Atlus Has Already Recast Some Persona 4 Characters in the Past
Given thatPersona 3 Reloadfeatured an entirely new voice cast, the likelihood of Atlus taking a similar approach with its rumored reimagining ofPersona 4seems well within the realm of possibility. Several main characters inPersona 4have already been recast in the past; Chie Satonaka was originally voiced by Tracey Rooney before being replaced by Erin Fitzgerald afterPersona 4, while Matthew Mercer succeeded Troy Baker as the voice of Kanji followingP4 Golden. Similarly, Naoto was voiced by Anna Graves in the 2008 original and by Valie Arem fromP4 Goldenonward.

A known leaker has recently claimed that thePersona 4remake is planned to be announced at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, which is scheduled to take place on June 8. Separately, a yet-unknown entity registered the p4re.jp domain in April 2025. For reference, p3re.jp was also registered several months ahead of thePersona 3 Reloadannouncement at the June 2023 Xbox Games Showcase. While Lowenthal, Fitzgerald, and Winn-Lee claim they aren’t involved in the rumored remake, some fans have been amused by the fact that these public denials arrived in the same order their characters are introduced inPersona 4. This coincidence has sparked some tongue-in-cheek theories suggesting the denials are part of an elaborate pre-reveal marketing stunt.
Although the original cast may not return for the remake,Persona 4vocalist Shihoko Hirata might, based on some circumstantial evidence that surfaced in early 2025. In addition to PC and consoles, the purported reimagining is rumored to be coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one. If revealed at the next Xbox Games Showcase, thePersona 4remake would likely end up targeting a release window between late 2025 and early 2026.
