There are 49 journals inClair Obscur: Expedition 33, and players who want to earn the Follow the Trail achievement must find them all. This is no small undertaking, though, as many of the journals are quite well hidden. Indeed, it can be very difficult to track down all the journals inClair Obscur: Expedition 33, and players may want to use the locations detailed in this guide to find some of them.
Players will need to have access to all ofEsquie’s abilities before they are able to collect every journal.
This guide details abilities players will unlock, and locations that they will visit, as they work to complete the game.
Look just right of the flag.
Expedition 35
After passing the flag, stick to the left path and follow it to its end. There is a bridge made of bodies on the right side of this area, which leads to the Chromatic Ballet, and the journal is in front of that bridge.

Expedition 37
The journal is next to the portal inside this Gestral Beach, which can only be accessed after unlocking fly.
Expedition 38
Pass the flag and walk up the ramp to the right of the tall stone statue to reach this journal.
Expedition 39
Move forward from the flag to enter the arena that is home to the Sadness Chapelier. Upon entering the arena, look forward and to the right to locate an incline blocked by a group of Nevrons. Follow that incline to its end to find the journal.
Expedition 40
Near the merchant on the small island southwest of the Monolith.
Expedition 41
Follow the critical path to reach the Fading Woman. Enter the corridor to the right, and then look for the journal in the first alcove on the left.
Expedition 42
Pass the flag and continue forward so that the cinder block walls are to the left. There is a gold thread at the end of this path, and the journal is past a Nevron at the bottom.
Near the Chromatic Reaper Cultist.
Expedition 44
After passing the flag, follow the path to the right of the tall stone statue.
Expedition 45
Beat the Giant Sapling in the Crushing Cavern. Follow the path that is revealed and climb the gold thread at the end. Go left at the fork to find the journal.
Expedition 46
After initiatingLune’s Level 6 relationship event, go to Sirene’s Dress. The journal is past the Chromatic Glissando.
To access this journal, players need to perform these actions:
Expedition 50
Follow the critical path past the boat. Go left at the fork and look left to find the journal.
Expedition 51
Head forward from the flag to approach a crashed train. Follow the path to the right of the train to ascend a slope. At the top of the slope, look towards the tall door to find the journal.
Expedition 52
Follow the path to the right of the arena entrance. Just before entering the area with the Gestral Doctor, use the path on the right to access the journal.
Expedition 53
Follow the path beyond the petrified Bourgeon to find the journal.
Expedition 54
Look for this journal by the Chromatic Hexga at the end of the map.
Expedition 55
After climbing the stairs that are just beyond the flag, players will see a large opening in the wall on the left side of the path. The journal is on the ground across from that opening.
Expedition 56
After using the grapple point and passing through the corridor that is beyond the pot, look forward and to the left. There is a lamppost in that position, and the journal is at its base.
Expedition 57
Return to the Fading Woman who is just before the flag and follow the path that is behind her. This path leads to a grassy area with a broken catapult, and the journal is on the ground next to that machine.
Players will automatically receive this journal after completing Old Lumiere.
Expedition 59
Follow the path to the left of the flag to be taken directly to the journal.
Expedition 60
Backtrack to leave the Opera House. Upon exiting, head left to reach the end of the narrow walkway and press the input that appears to claim the journal.
Expedition 61
Follow the critical path beyond the flag to reach a hot air balloon that can be used to travel to the Peak. The journal is on the ground in front of that balloon.
Expedition 62
This journal is near a sign with tally marks north of the Gestral Village.
Expedition 63
Follow the critical path to reach an area with a domed building. Use the path on the far side of this area to enter an alcove with the journal.
This journal is in a small camp near The Meadows.
Expedition 65
Head to the far end of the area and cross the tracks on the left. Look to the left at the end of the tracks to find the journal.
Expedition 66
After giving the rock to Esquie, follow the path that he creates. The journal is in a small camp on the right side of the path.
Expedition 67
Turn your back to the flag. The journal is near the crates at the bottom of the stairs.
Expedition 68
Players will run into this journal as they follow the critical path beyond the flag.
Expedition 69
Follow the path to the left of the flag to reach a group of elevated Nevrons. The journal is near those enemies.
Expedition 70
Follow the critical path to reach an area filled with flower stalls. There is a small corridor in the back-right corner of this area that leads to a section that can be traversed by grapple points. The journal is at the end of the section.
Expedition 78
Instead of descending into the area with the rock Nevron, players should follow the path forward to reach a gold thread. Ascend the thread to find the journal.
Expedition 81
Players will automatically receive this journal as they work through Spring Meadows.
Expedition 84
This journal is at the end of the path in The Fountain.

This journal is in a small camp northwest of the Forgotten Battlefield.
Aline
Follow the critical path to reach a grave. Look left to find an entrance to the Manor.
Renoir
Pass through the crack in the wall near the flag to find an entrance to the Manor. The journal is near a bed in the second room.
Unknown
Go right from the flag to enter the arena with the mini-boss. Immediately look right and enter the cave that is ahead. There is an entrance to the Manor in the cave.
Descend the ramp to the left of the flag and walk across the platform, aiming towards the right of the walkway that is at the far end. Drop to access an area with an entrance to the Manor.
Collect the portrait from the Canvas. Use any Manor entrance, like the one in the Gestral Village, to access the Manor. Place the portrait in the empty frame at the top of the central staircase. Pass through the door that has opened at the far end of the dining room.
Survivor
Follow the critical path through a doorway with no door. Immediately go right to access a pipe. Fall through the hole in the pipe and use theOld Keyto open the gate.
Access the Abyss via Renoir’s Draft and get past Simon.
