As you go through the underground inBlue Prince, you will find an abundance of new mysteries just as you are getting close to the end of your first normal run of the game. Down in the tunnels under the house, there are so many rooms, chambers, locked trunks, and more to discover.
The Sanctum is a room at the end of a long hallway that houses a lever and eight locked doors. But these locked doors inBlue Princecannot be opened with normal keys; you will need tofind eight special Sanctum keysin order to get inside each of these rooms and solve the puzzles inside of them. If you need help with that task, this guide is here to tell youhow to find all eight Sanctum keys inBlue Prince.
All Sanctum Key Locations
There are a total of eight doors, which means you have eight total keys to find. They are each in a different location. Each of these eight single-use keys is identical, so each one can open any Sanctum door, but only one door. Inside Room 46, there is a poem that will give you a clue to the location of each of these keys.
“The first key found here on the furthest rank,
The second locked tight in the vault of a bank,
The third is high up, among all the clocks,
And the fourth down below, beneath all docks.
The fifth key is held by a king on his throne,
The sixth by the station, left by one of your own,
The seventh is major if you draft quite late,
And the last key is waiting behind the door of eight.”
Room 46
The first key can be found inside Room 46, and just getting there is the objective to beat the whole game to begin with. The first time you get insideRoom 46 inBlue Prince, a cutscene plays and the day automatically ends, but you will actually be able to exploreRoom 46if you visit it again on a different day. Inside will be a crown, some lore, and clues, as well as another puzzle. However, on the desk, you’re able to also finda Sanctum Key. The clue is “The first key found here on the furthest rank,” because Room 46 is the only room that is Rank 10 in the house.
The Vault
The next clue is “The second locked tight in the vault of a bank.” One of the manyfloorplans you may draft inBlue Princeis a Vault. Inside, there are a handful of lock boxes, and the keys are given out randomly as special keys and items while you are exploring the house. One of the many lock boxes that can be opened isbox 370, and there is a Sanctum Key inside it.
Clock Tower
The Clock Tower is a floorplan that is not available when you first startBlue Prince, but you’ll need to get to it to find the third key that “is high up, among all the clocks.” You first need to choose a Drafting Studio, then get lucky enough for the Clock Tower to be one of the choices that you can add to your drafting pool. Once you have the Clock Tower, you need to draft it as early in the day as possible, because the puzzle inside can only be solved by time.
If you look closely at the card for the Clock Tower in the screenshot above, you’ll see that the clock hands are set to 1:30. This time is repeated on the floor of the Clock Tower as well as the broken clock face at the top of the tower. If you draft a Clock Tower and are standing at the top of that tower at 1:30 on the dot, a secret room will open up. Once you enter the room, set the clocks to the following times in the order listed, from left to right, to obtain the Sanctum Key.
Reservoir Chest Puzzle
There is a whole puzzle to complete so you’re able to fullydrain the Reservoir inBlue Prince, and you will need to figure that out to even get to this puzzle. The short version is that you need to draft the Pump Room, which is added to your draft pool after drafting a Pool. Then, you need to connect that Pump Room to a power source like the Electric Eel Aquarium or the Boiler Room. Once the power is flowing to the Pump Room, the Reserve tank in that room will become available, giving you enough room for all the water inside the Reservoir to be drained.
Now that the water is gone, you may head down from theFoundation Elevatoron the north side of the Reservoir, descend the stairs, and look at all the chests. There are a total of 23 chests, each with different colors, different symbols, and cards inside that will give you a clue to which of the 23 boxes contains the Sanctum Key.
If you don’t want to ponder over all the possibilities and waste a lot of keys, you can find the solution here: the key is located in the black box with a moon on it, labeled with an “I” on the map above. This will get you yet another key, located “beneath all docks.”
Throne Room
“The fifth key is held by a king on his throne,” which means you will need to get the Throne Room into your drafting pool. The only way to do this is to collect all theMicrochips inBlue Princeand put them inside the pedestal in the Blackbridge Grotto. Here are the steps you need to complete:
Safehouse
The next key’s clue is “The sixth by the station, left by one of your own.” This is in reference to your mother’s Safehouse, which is located off of the Reservoir. You will need to raise or lower the level of the water to six units, then sail to the Safehouse with the boat. The boat will start on the south side of the Reservoir, so you need to enter the room from that side through the circular candle room or by lighting all theBlue Flames inBlue Princeand riding the elevator down.
Piano Room
For the seventh key, you have the clue “is major if you draft quite late.” That doesn’t make much sense unless you pay close attention to the card that represents the Music Room’s floorplan when drafting. It says it contains both a “Major” and “Minor” key. It’s more than a great Music Room pun; it means that you’re able to draft any number of unique Major Keys there, including the car keys, the silver key, the Secret Garden key, and more. You will also be able to draft a Sanctum Key from there after you have reached Room 46 and found another Sanctum Key already.
Mechanarium
“And the last key is waiting behind the door of eight.” This is most confusing of the eight hints; it sort of makes it sound like the key will be behind the eighth door of the Sanctum itself. However, this is not the case. Instead, you will need to draft enough Mechanic rooms, or rooms marked with a cog, to fill up every door in the Mechanarium. The Sanctum Key will be behind the eighth door in the room.
If you are having trouble with this one, you should look for a Wrench, which allows you to change the rarity of the mechanical rooms you draft while it’s in your possession. You can make all these rooms easier to draft. Another helpful item is to craft is aWorkshop inBlue Prince, combining a Compass and a Battery. This will make mechanical rooms more common in your drafting.
