Overton andChristian Linke, showrunner and executive producer, and head of Riot Games' animation studio, spoke withVarietyaboutArcanesix months after its second and final season was released. They were asked a question from a fan about Vi and Caitlyn’s relationship. Linke declined to give details, possibly hinting that a big project is in the works. “I have to say no comment, because … you never know. That’s a shitty answer, but it’s in your favor,” Linke shared. However, Overton shared more details, hinting at a possible spinoff featuring the two because they were still “very young in the show” and fans haven’t seen an adult Vi and Caitlyn. She said:
The show was them becoming adults.

She added that they want to showVi and Caitlynafter the events inArcanebecause in the first series, all they did was protect others. Vi is protective of her younger sister Jinx. However, they had a falling-out due to the latter’s poor choices. She’s also protective of Caitlyn, Ekko, and others. Caitlyn shares the same values and protects multiple individuals as she safeguards the city of Piltover. She also looks after Vi and is even willing to take bullets for her. Thus, there’s a question about who they are when they don’t have anyone to protect. Overton acknowledged that there are still a lot of stories involving the two that they wanted to explore and questions they wanted to answer. She added:
Figuring out who Vi is and what she wants, and how she fits into being a cop, and who she decides to fight for and why — those are stories we have not yet explored at length. Is she a gumshoe investigator? Are they a crime-fighting duo? Do they go out to the wider world and encounter other champions? That would be dope and fun. I want Vi to get to see more of the world.
Vi and Caitlyn are two of the most popular characters inArcane. They are a fan-favorite duo, so a spinoff featuring the pair is something fans will surely love and support. Caitlyn and Vi have strong romantic chemistry. They shared a kiss in the third episode ofArcaneSeason 2, but the depth of their romantic ties could be explored further. It only made fans wonder what happened next to the duo after the events in Piltover and Zaun, where Caitlyn was seen comforting Vi, who was grieving the loss of Jinx.
