The ROG Ally utilizes Windows 11 as the main operating system, with features such as Windows Hello and Windows Defender included to protect user security. In 2024, the ASUS ROG Ally X was released, which saw the tablet’s processor upgraded to the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU. Althoughrumors of an Xbox handheld reveal happening in 2025were popular discussion topics with fans, Microsoft remained coy about the subject.
However, weeks afterASUS and Xbox teased fans with news on social media, the efforts of both companies may soon come to fruition.As reported by VideoCardz,pictures of the ASUS ROG Ally 2 were leaked following FCC certification. According to the images, the ROG Ally 2 will have a white model similar to previous ROG Ally handhelds, and a black model with an Xbox button on the left side. The images indicated the Xbox button was above the D-Pad and next to the left stick. Codenamed “Project Kennan” by Microsoft, the upcoming Xbox tablet will have more powerful specs than the white version of the ROG Ally 2.
The ASUS ROG Ally 2 Will Include An Xbox Version
The base ROG Ally 2 will be powered by a 4-core AMD Aerith Plus APU, which is slightly more powerful than the Van Gogh APU used on the Steam Deck. By comparison, the Xbox-branded ROG Ally 2 will bepowered by the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme APU, making it a successor to the ROG Ally X. The Xbox ROG Ally 2 will also include 64GB LPDDR5X of system memory, clocked at 8533 MHz. Both versions of the ROG Ally 2 will have a 7-inch 120 Hz display. However, the ROG Ally 2’s release date and starting price remain elusive as of this writing.
It is also unclear if the Xbox version of the ROG Ally 2 will utilize Windows 11 or include a custom Xbox OS. Like other ASUS ROG Ally tablets currently available, the upcoming Xbox ROG Ally 2 will likelyinclude strong support for Xbox Game Pass. But, until Microsoft and ASUS come forward with official information, all leaks must be taken with a fine grain of salt.
