Summary
Avowedhas revealed a new roadmap that highlights some special features that fans can expect to see added to Obsidian Entertainment’s hit RPG over the next several months. Several upgrades just arrived inAvowedthrough the Version 1.4 update, and plans for the future include a New Game Plus mode, additional weapons and armor, and improvements to cooking and crafting.
Thenew update forAvowedlaunched on May 16 and provides players with some exciting customization elements, including keyboard and mouse support on Xbox consoles and an arachnophobia mode for those with a serious aversion to seeing spiders on their screens. The Version 1.4 update also makes some changes to the Fog of War, clearing it from maps more efficiently as players explore the game’s world, and adds critter loot drops, the option to advance time while at camp, and the ability for Soul Pods to dispel most illusions.
While there are plenty of helpful additions in the latest update, the new roadmap lists a healthy number of other changes that the game’s developers have planned for the summer and fall months. The most highly anticipated of these features is aNew Game Plus mode forAvowed, which is expected to arrive in the game sometime this autumn. While completionists can easily spend between 40 and 60 hours soaking up the details found in the RPG’s world, it has been about three months since the game’s release, and many who have become enamored with its epic story, visuals, and combat have felt dismay after reaching the endgame and realizing they had run out of things to do.
Summer
Fall
Before players get New Game Plus, however, Obsidian has some fun features planned for release over the summer. These additions include moreunique armor and weapons inAvowed, which should appease fans looking for new ways to tinker with the game’s combat and find new ways to tailor it to their liking. This should be bolstered by plans to add more active and passive abilities that players will be able to access. The summer months should also see some improvements to the cooking and crafting systems, the addition of map markers, and new behaviors and abilities for NPCs.
An entirely new weapon type is planned for release in the fall, and along with New Game Plus, players will get access to a Photo Mode, allowing them an easier way to capture unique images ofAvowed’s highly praised graphicsand world. Fall updates will also bring new character and Godlike feature presets to the character creation screen, and will allow players to change their characters' appearance after the game is already underway. Obsidian is also planning localized versions of the game for Japanese and Korean audiences, with improvements to localization for French-speaking portions of the world, though there is no set timeframe for these localization updates.
