The long-awaited Patch 8 forBaldur’s Gate 3has finally launched, and players can finally sink their teeth into a few exciting new subclasses. Spellcasters have a lot of new abilities and skills to explore for characters who prefer to use magical powers when targeting their enemies.
The best magical DPS dealers among the Patch 8 subclasses are a mix of melee and ranged damage. Some of them take the role of pure spellcasters, while others imbue their weapons with arcane power and combine melee damage with magical powers.
For those players who are interested in multiclassing, choose classes that have the same spellcasting modifier, or ensure that the required ability scores for the class are in place. For example, a Bladesinger Bard will need both high Intelligence and Charisma scores. Cleric and Druid are a nice combination because they both use Wisdom.
Death Domain Cleric
The Power of Life And Death, But Mostly Death
This Cleric still has the basic healing abilities inherent with the class, but also has special powers deeply connected to spells that deal Necrotic damage. These spells alsoappear in the Necromancyspell list used by Wizards, and Wisdom is still their most important ability score.
Circle of The Stars Druid
Draw Power From the Starry Skies
Druids are a combination classthat already fills any role, and many players choose to build their Druids as masters of physical damage. The Circle of Stars Druid adds even more power to their attacks with the Starry Form ability and Light damage spells like Guiding Bolt.
The Hexblade
The Infamous Warlock Subclass
The Hexbade Warlock leans into the possibilities offered by the combination of spellcasting and physical DPS, and this build favors the magical side. This is a subclass that has extra AC proficiencies and functionsjust as well at close range.
Bladesinging Wizard
Spell Power Combined With Melee Prowess
The Bladesinger still uses their Intelligence ability scoreas their spellcasting modifier, has proficiency in Performance, and can wear Light Armor, details which connect them with the Bard class. Their increased weapon proficiencies include several light and finesse weapons to improve their melee combat abilities.
