Tongues of Madnessare reagents that can be used to craft elixirs inBaldur’s Gate 3. What makes this stand out from other alchemical ingredients is that they’re actually mushrooms that look like bundles of tongues, and players might find themselves locked out of an early game quest if they accidentally use these for crafting.

Getting some Tongues of Madness is fairly simple, especially once players makeenough progress inBG3. If you’re wondering where to get some of these for Omeluum’s quest, or if you want to make that special Psionic elixir, here’s where you can find some.

Where to Get Tongues of Madness in BG3

The earliest place where you can find Tongues of Madness isthe Arcane Tower in Act 1. Specifically, you can find some in the tower’s lower floors, where you can also find Timmask Spores.

To reach the basement, you need to wear theGuiding Lightring (which you may also get in the tower). Once you equip it, go back to the elevator to find a Basement button now pressable. Descend to the basement; there should be a Tongue of Madness on one of the tables there.

As briefly mentioned earlier, Omeluum (the Mindflayer in the Myconid Colony) will ask you to get Tongue of Madness as part of a quest. This isn’t the only use for this ingredient, however.

To craft these elixirs, you need someEssenceand aSublimate of Tongue of Madness, which is produced by using three Tongues of Madness.

Players can craft potionsthroughBG3’sAlchemy system. Anyone can make potions with Alchemy regardless of their class, level, and skills.

To start using Alchemy, open your character’s inventory menu and select the bottle-shaped button at the upper-right of the window. From this screen, you’ll be able to select the alchemical ingredients you want to mix together. If you already have them, select your Sublimate of Tongues of Madness and any Essence to craft a Tadpole Elixir.
