Proper ability usage, team synergy, and stat distribution are critical to ensuring Ifa performs at his best. This guide highlights the most important details players should know to avoid underutilizing him in battle and take advantage of his unique strengths.
5Not Using Another Natlan Character In The Team
Ifa’s Nightsoul’s Blessing state allows him to accumulate Rescue Essentials points, which directly enhance the Swirl and Electro-Charged damage of his entire team. The number of Rescue Essentials points he gains istied to the total Nightsoul points across all party members, making team composition a key factor in maximizing his buffs.
This means that Natlan characters who typically stay at high Nightsoul points are ideal teammates for Ifa, as they ensure his passive remains active and consistently benefits the team. Ororon and Mavuika are particularly strong choices, as they naturally produce high Nightsoul values, allowing Ifa to boost elemental reaction damage more effectively. Without the right Nightsoul generators, his buffs lose impact, making careful party selection critical to optimizing his utility.
Additionally, Ifa’s other Ascension passive increases his Elemental Mastery by 80 for 10 seconds when other characters trigger Nightsoul Burst. Having two Natlan characters in the team allows this effect to trigger once every 12 seconds, while three or more Natlan characters reduce the cooldown to 9 seconds. Essentially, Ifa can maintain almost perfect uptime on this buff. Although it’s not a huge boost, it is still a beneficial self-buff.
4Not Taking Advantage of Taser Compositions
Ifa’s passive specifically enhances Electro-Charged and Swirl damage,making Taser teams one of his most effective compositions. These teams typically consist of Electro and Hydro characters, allowing for constant Electro-Charged reactions, which Ifa reinforces with his passive buffs and being able to reapply these elements through Swirl reactions consistently. However, some players may overlook this synergy, missing out on a high-damage playstyle that fully utilizes his kit.
That being said, Ifa’s kit does not restrict players to specific elements, meaning he can functionwell as a Rainbow drivertoo. Since Swirl spreads any element it reacts with, having multiple elements in a team allows for diversified reaction damage. This flexibility lets Ifa operate in various compositions, ensuring his Swirl DMG remains impactful, even outside of strict Taser setups.
3Mistaking Ifa as Anemo Support
While Ifa possesses some crowd control, similar to Venti, Kazuha or Sucrose, and has built-in healing, he does not function as a typical Anemo support like those characters. His kit lacks strong team-wide buffs outside of increasing swirl and Electro-Charge damage, energy generation, or long lasting enemy grouping, meaning he doesn’t fit the same utility-focused role as those characters. Instead,he plays more like Mizuki, another Anemo unit who excels at reaction-based damage while providing healing.
Unlike classic off-field Anemo supports, Ifa is meant to stay on-field to drive Swirl and Electro-Charged reactions consistently and maintaining elemental uptime for the team rather than quick-swapping for buffs.
2Not Focusing on Elemental Mastery
Since Ifa’s damage and healing both scale with Elemental Mastery, failing to prioritize this stat significantly reduces his effectiveness. Some players may mistakenly opt for ATK-based builds, which do not optimize his reaction damage, resulting in lower overall output. Similarly, Crit Rate and Crit DMG are not meaningful for him, as Swirl and Electro-Charged reactions do not crit like Melt and Vaporize, which are amplifying reactions. This means that stacking Crit values is essentially a wasted investment when building Ifa.
Because his stat priority is relatively simple, players can have an easier time building Ifa compared to most on-field DPS units, who require balancing multiple attributes like Crit stats and ATK. With Elemental Mastery being his sole priority, players can equip EM on all main stats, including Sands, Goblet, and Circlet, without worrying about other offensive attributes. This makes him very accessible without needing to farm ideal artifacts for long.
1Not Using His Elemental Skill Correctly
Ifa’s Elemental Skill is the core of his Nightsoul’s Blessing state, allowing him to function as an elemental driver while remaining hovering in battle. However, many players may misuse or misunderstand the difference between tap and hold mechanics, which can directly impact his performance and team synergy. For general team compositions, players should primarily tap his Elemental Skill to maintain Nightsoul’s Blessing and enable consistent Swirl and Electro-Charged application. While in this state, Ifa’s normal attacks fire healing projectiles, reinforcing team sustain while ensuring strong elemental reactions. Holding the skill, on the other hand, will trigger a Nightsoul-aligned Plunging Attack, dealing extra damage but ending the Nightsoul’s Blessing state upon landing.
Although holding the skill isn’t optimal for standard setups, it becomes much more valuable inplunge-focused teams, where consistent plunging attacks are incorporated into the rotation. Players using teams built around airborne mechanics can take advantage of Ifa’s fast plunge capability, dealing bonus AoE damage before swapping characters for combo extensions. Luckily, Ifa’s Elemental Skill has only a 7.5-second cooldown, meaning even if players mistime their ability usage, recovery is quick and forgiving. Additionally, this skill provides mobility benefits, allowing Ifa to hover in the air like Chasca or Mavuika, making him useful for exploration in the open-world.
