Much like the other Expeditioners, Sciel inClair Obscur: Expedition 33is capable of both tremendous utility and amazing damage. She uses her unique Sun & Moon mechanic to supercharge her abilities, allowing her to deal with every enemy in the Expedition’s way with relative ease.
Sciel’s kit is a little confusing at first, but once you become familiar with what she can do, you’ll realize exactly how strong she can be inClair Obscur: Expedition 33. This build guide aims to make Sciel a DPS powerhouse who can consistentlyreach (and blow past) the damage capstarting in Act 2.
Chation(Low Vitality and High Luck Scaling)
Inverted Affinity
Energising Start IV
This good thing about this build is players can start using the very basic form of it as soon as they getChation, a weapon thatmakes all of Sciel’s Sun Skills apply 10 Foretell on enemies. As strong as this sounds, this comes at a cost — when using Chation,Sciel will take double damage from all sources.
Chation can be obtained earlyin Stone Wave Cliffs.
In most fights, players won’t need to worry about taking damage at all. By usingCard Weaver, Sciel will be able to apply 10 Foretell to enemies andimmediately start another turn. With our three Pictos above, Sciel will start with 6 AP on her first turn and 5 AP on her second one, which is just enough touse Card Weaver followed by Phantom Blade. If Sciel doesn’t outright kill enemies, the rest of the team will.
This build is all aboutstriking first and striking hard. If you start your turn with a different party member, consider giving Sciel an Energy Tint so she can start with Dark Wave instead of Phantom Blade.
Luminas
Your choice of Luminas here will vary depending on your preferences and playstyle. For starters, try the following:
Breaker and Breaking Counterare mostly for breaking enemies with Counterattacks (also with Phantom Blade), while the rest are for improving Sciel’s AP economy. Alternatively, you can try getting the Last Stand Pictos from the Hidden Gestral Arena to turn Sciel into a powerful solo fighter.
You can use Inverted Affinity as a Lumina andequip the Confident Picto instead. The latter dampens Chation’s drawback by making Sciel take 50% less damage. However, this will completely prevent her from getting healed.
If your battles are lasting for more than three turns, consider replacing Inverted Affinity with something else, likeShield Affinity.
Other good Pictos/Luminas include:
Teammates
Sciel doesn’t really need a team to function well with this build, butshe’ll appreciate anyone who can apply buffs and debuffs. Maelle is especially helpful since she can apply Defenceless with Offensive Switch, but anyone can do the same with the right Pictos equipped.
Strategy
As mentioned, this build gives Sciel a headstart on Foretell applicationvia Card Weaver and Chation’s passive effect. Starting with 10 Foretell on every enemy is a huge advantage, and if you have Painted Power and enough AP to kick things off with Dark Wave, fights will be over before they even begin. In practice, it’smuch like the Auto Death buildbut with more steps.
Start by using Card Weaver, then follow up with a Moon skill to enter Twilight mode on Sciel’s first turn.
In general, start by casting Card Weaver, then follow up with Phantom Blade or Dark Wave (whichever fits the situation more). When it comes to boss fights or fights against other tough targets, you’ll be able tokeep your Foretell stacks maxed out, thus making sure that Sciel is always doing the most damage she possibly can.
Don’t forget to use Rush to increase the team’s speed and Fortune’s Fury to give someone in the team a double damage buff.
