Who to Main in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves
Players should aim to main one of the S-tier characters as this will help them dominate the game — both in offline and online game modes. However, this doesn’t need to be their only character. They can have one character they focus on for competitive play and as many casual fighters to explore the numerous PvE modes.
There are 3 S-Tier performing characters:
Billy Kane
Billy Kane is a recurring sub-boss from past games in the franchise. He returns as a regular character in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, but he is anything but regular. Billy’s reach is a cut above the rest thanks to his polearm that can detach and extend.
Great for both pokes and following up into combos.
This gives him specials that can strike at long distances in an instant. Another one of his specials is a diagonal for denying any form of aerial advancement towards him. This can let him push back rushers and strike at zoners without either being near Billy. This makes him dominate by playing the mid-range game.
Kain R. Heinlein
Kain isthe epitome of a zoner. While he can still hold his own up close, his kit lets him push his opponents back and then use either projectiles or hazards to keep them where he wants. His Schwarzes Rondo lets him place a stationary ball of fire on the screen to detonate later. This can be used to make opponents keep their distance, or be used as part of a more devastating combination.
Players can also make Kain dive into their opponents when they least expect it. Most newcomers will not expect a zoner to willinging rush them.
Vox Reaper
Vox Reaper is a hybrid playstyle character. His kit gives him everything he needs to change up his style and exploit how his opponents are choosing to play. Most grappler characters in fighting games are also big guys.
This makes them use a slower style that breaks chunks off of their opponent’s health bars. Vox is both a rusher and a grappler, along with an explosive blast for anything that gets too close to him. Once he closes the gap on a Zoner, it is hard for them to recover or get Vox out of their face.
