Summary
From launching a kick at the speed of light to causing a massive earthquake with a single punch, Devil Fruits inOne Piecehave taken combat to a new level of craziness. The right devil fruit will give its user fame, power, and riches beyond belief. That’s why so many people rushed to compete in the Dressrosa Colosseum after learning the prize wasAce’s Flame-Flame Fruit.
That being said, not every Devil Fruit is suitable for combat. Some are clearly better suited for everyday use. Make no mistake, users of this type of Devil Fruit can absolutely find ways to use their powers in combat, even if that’s not what they were meant for. It’s like a pencil. Users can write a beautiful letter with it or use it to kill three men in a bar, John Wick style. So with that in mind, here are the best Devil Fruits that aren’t for fighting.
7Garb-Garb Fruit
The Power to Make Clothes
Garb-Garb Fruit allows its user to create all kinds of clothes instantly. All they need to do is place something small and solid, such as rocks or leaves, on top of their head, and the user will instantly transform it into fully functional clothes. The user can use this fruit’s power on both themselves and others. The design of the clothes themselves is based on the user’s imagination. Unfortunately, the clothes generated by this ability are only temporary and will eventually turn back to their original form.
Garb-Garb Fruit is an amazing Devil Fruit for everyday life. This ability is especially useful when you can only bring a limited amount of clothes on your trip. In the story,Kin’emon uses his Devil Fruit abilityto create winter clothes for the Straw Hats and several other people in Punk Hazard. Later on, he also uses it to make matching outfits that allow the pirates’ alliance to blend in with Kaido’s army.
6Calm-Calm Fruit
The Power to Be Silent
The Calm-Calm Fruit allows its user to generate a soundproof field, preventing any noise inside from being heard outside. Not only that, but the user can also apply the ability to themselves or other people, making them completely silent no matter what they do. They can play drums while screaming at the top of their lungs, and you won’t hear a thing.
In the story,Rosinante uses it to have a private talk with the young Trafalgar Law.Later on, he also uses this ability to silence Law, giving the boy a chance to slip free from Doflamingo’s grip. This is the perfect ability for an undercover agent like Rosinante or CP9 agents, but as seen in the story, this Devil Fruit’s abilities are quite useless in a fight.
5Glare-Glare Fruit
The Power to See Through Everything
Glare-Glare Fruit enables the user to see through everything. Think of it like the combination of Superman’s telescopic and X-ray vision. At her peak, Viola can use this ability to see through people’s skin and examine their organs. Not only that, but she can also see everything within a 4000 km radius. As if that’s not impressive enough, Viola can even peer into people’s memories when she fully focuses on her subject.
In the story, Viola uses her Devil Fruit’s ability to inspect Sanji’s body and peek into his mind. During the open battle against theDonquixote Pirates in Dressrosa,Viola helps the Straw Hats by letting them know the positions of Doflamingo’s high-ranking officials. As demonstrated by Viola, her Devil Fruit ability is highly effective for supporting her teammates during conflict, but it’s clearly not suited for front-line combat.
4Clone-Clone Fruit
The Power to Imitate Anybody
Clone-Clone Fruit allows the user to perfectly mimic other people that he touches with his right hand. It can imitate not only the face, but also the body and voice as well. The transformation happens instantly, and there’s no limit to this power at all. To revert to his original body, the user only needs to touch his face with his left hand.
In the story, Bentham, also known asMr. 2 from Baroque Works, uses this ability to copy several Straw Hat crews, including Luffy himself. Unfortunately, a diva like Mr. 2 can’t resist the spotlight, which often leads to him exposing himself as an impostor. And similar to the previous devil fruits, Clone-Clone Fruit is also better suited for covert operation, rather than fighting on the front line.
3Memo-Memo Fruit
The Power to Manipulate Memories
Memo-Memo Fruit allows the user to extract and manipulate other people’s memories. The extracted memories look like film strips, and once the user has taken a memory out of somebody’s brain, it will be gone forever unless the user puts those memories back in.
In the story, Pudding uses her Devil Fruit ability to manipulateReiju’s memories. Thanks to that, she can carry out her scheme without worrying about Reiju revealing what she discovered about Pudding to her family. Near the end of the Whole Cake Island arc, Pudding also uses her ability to erase the brief, sweet moments she shared with Sanji from his memory.
2Millet-Millet Fruit
The Power to Tame Animals
Millet-Millet Fruit allows its user to create a traditional Japanese snack called dango from their cheeks. The user can tame any animal or animal-human hybrid by feeding them these special dangos. Once the effect of the dango wears off, however, the animal can either stay loyal to the user or return to how they used to be before they ate the dango.
Tama uses this ability to tame various animals in the forest where she lives. Later on, she also uses her dango to tame some of the Beast Pirates’artificial zoan Devil Fruit users.Interestingly enough, most of the animals and animal hybrids that are tamed by Tama end up staying by her side even after the effect of the special dangos wears off. That being said, while Tama was fortunate to find many animal hybrids among Kaidou’s henchmen, the next battle might not be so accommodating. That’s why this is not a suitable Devil Fruit for combat.
1Heal-Heal Fruit
The Power to Heal Everybody
As the name suggests, Heal-Heal Fruit enables its user to heal herself and others. In the aftermath of the battle against the Donquixote Pirates in Dressrosa, Mansherry turns her tears into dandelions that can heal minor injuries upon contact. Thanks to this, she manages to heal hundreds of injured soldiers and civilians in a short amount of time.
Heal-Heal Fruit is all about healing. The user may find different ways to channel their healing powers, such as Mansherry and her dandelions, but the main purpose of this Devil Fruit power is still healing. It has no combat applications.
But even though it can’t be used in a battle, this is certainly one of the most important and beneficial abilities to have. After all, whether you engage in combat or sail on the sea, everybody will eventually get injured. Having a healer in your group can be the difference between life and death. That’s why Heal-Heal Fruit is one of the best Devil Fruits that aren’t for fighting.
