Summary
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33seems like it has four main elements at first, when players get Lune in the party. With her, players can learn fire, ice, lightning, and earth-based magic, but beyond that are a few more that will unlock as more characters come intoClair Obscur: Expedition 33’s party.
Yet, among the many in the game, the most destructive force inClair Obscur: Expedition 33is the element of fire, just like in real life. Almost every character has one or several fire-based attacks or support abilities, and these are the ones to unlock ASAP. With the power of fire, anything is possible, so let’s rank their power and usage in the game.
7Revenge
Return Fire Damage If Hit
The Revenge skill is great for a particular situation or type of player who is not that good at using Dodge or Parry. The power of this fire-based attack will be multiplied based on how many times Maelle gets hit before she can act. If she gets hit once, then Revenge won’t be that good, but if she gets hit ten or more times, it can do some serious damage.
Players canbuild Maelle inClair Obscur: Expedition 33in a certain manner to raise her defense stat, making hits not hurt that much to take advantage of Revenge.
6Phoenix Flame
Burn Enemies And Revive Allies
The Phoenix Flame skill is a Gradient Attack that acts like aLimit Break in one of manyFinal Fantasygames. The big difference withClair Obscur: Expedition 33is that all party members share the same meter but not the same skills, which helps diversify their portfolio.
Phoenix Flame is not so much an offensive skill as it is great for healing allies, as it can revive party members and apply a good amount of Burn marks on enemies. When cornered and alone in battle, this can help Maelle out of a jam, along with aiding in her Burn-based builds.
5Wildfire
Fire Damage To All And Adds Burn
The Wildfire skill is a good starter to get quickly forLune inClair Obscur: Expedition 33. It doesn’t cost that much, can do a decent amount of damage to all enemies, and can inflict Burn on them all too. If players somehow have ice-based Stains accumulated already, then Wildfire will consume them to increase its damage.
Stains are particular to Lune alone as her skills will generate them onto her weapon, which can then enhance other skills, with Wildfire being a prime example. There is a downside, though, as Wildfire has a low chance of backfiring and damaging Lune greatly, just like her Hell skill, but it’s a risk players should be willing to take.
4Danseuse Waltz
Fire Damage To One Target Increased With Burn And Balanced Mask Support
The Danseuse Waltz skill is for Monoco, and his setup is a bit wild, as he can learn skills not based on a tree but on who he fights in battle. It’s a typicalBlue Mage quality found in RPGs likeFinal Fantasy, so Monoco’s system should feel at home for most RPG fans.
Another thing to note is that when Monoco attacks, a mask-based wheel will turn, which can enhance certain skills that are usually noted. For example, Danseuse Waltz is a strong fire-based skill that can damage and Burn one enemy, with its power being increased if Monoco is aligned with the Balanced Mask in battle.
3Fire Rage
Continued Fire Damage To All Until Lune Gets Hit
Wildfire can be risky for Lune, but players will really have to get good with theParry and Dodge systems inClair Obscur: Expedition 33if they want to get the most out of Lune’s Fire Rage skill. Activating it will do a simple fire-based attack that may look disappointing, but it’s almost like a fake out for enemies, as the next time it’s Lune’s turn, the attack will get stronger.
It will keep getting stronger like a fierce tornado so long as Lune does not take damage, which is why using Dodge and Parry is necessary. Also like Wildfire, Fire Rage can consume ice-based Stains to get even more intense.
2Rain Of Fire
Fire Damage To One Target And Applies More Burn In Defensive Stance
In the end-game, players can get by most battles, including bosses, by using Rain of Fire with Maelle. This attack will send two volleys of needle-like fire missiles to damage a single enemy and inflict it with Burn.
Like most fire-based attacks, the more players use Rain of Fire, the more Burn effects will apply. With the right weapon andPictos equipped inClair Obscur: Expedition 33, players can increase these Burn stacks by ten or more per turn, and it doesn’t even cost that much to use. It’s the fire-based attack that players could call the long con.
1Burning Canvas
Void Damage To One Target, Enhanced With Burns
The Burning Canvas skill is technically not a fire-based attack alone, as it instead uses the rare Void-based damage as its main component. However, the more an enemy is Burned, the stronger Burning Canvas will get, which is why it’s the best fire-related skill in the game.
With Maelle, it’s best to start a boss fight by using Rain of Fire to build Burn marks, and when there is enough stacked, like in the thirties or fifties, players should then use Burning Canvas to really do some damage. Maelle may be the youngest party member in the crew, but with her fire abilities, she can truly control the battlefield, and Burning Canvas is proof.
