Followers aren’t the most useful inOblivion Remastered, but they do serve a purpose. While most of them will engage in combat with the player, and even for them, others just like to sit around and do nothing. The consistency with followers inOblivion Remasteredis that they can’t carry gear, and they will mainly act as a bodyguard or a massive fan of the hero in question.
However, if players do not want to tread through theexpansive wonders of Cyrodiilalone, then they can take an abundance of followers with them. It’s important for players to know about the best followers inOblivion Remasteredso that they can make the most out of their dangerous adventuring.
8Adoring Fan
A High Elf Who Worships the Player But Doesn’t Fight
The Adoring Fan doesn’t have a name and is simply known as the Adoring Fan. It’s quite fitting that there is no identity outside of worship, because the Adoring Fan cares not for his own life, and only cares to worship the very ground of the Grand Champion of the Arena. The Adoring Fan will follow players to the ends of Tamriel and back, and there’s basically no way to get rid of him, since killing him will see him respawn eventually. The Adoring Fan might be funny, but he serves no purpose since he cannot actually fight, and will run away in battleevery time danger arises.
7Everscamps
Passive Everscamps That Will Not Fight Enemies
Everscamps are rightly named for being, well, scamps. The Everscamps might be a tad hostile when found in Oblivion Gate and Daedra activities, but it seems that this quadruple threat only serves to annoy whoever wields the Staff of the Everscamp and bring joy to Sheogorath. The four Everscamps found will just linger around the player, following them everywhere without doing anything or serving any purpose outside of potentially leveling up skills by killing them, and acting as cannon fodder when it comes to running at enemies to give themsomething to gnaw on.
6Golden Saint / Dark Seducer Escorts
Shivering Isles Exclusive Warriors
The Dark Seducer Escort and the Golden Saint Escort are followers found within the Shivering Isles, and while their power may be grand, they unfortunately lack the ability to enter Cyrodiil. These followers are exclusive to the Shivering Isles, and apart from cosmetics and their lore, they work nearly identically to one another with their armor, melee weapon, shield, and willingness to defend their lord. They will protect the player with their lives, but players will need to ask themselves if they want them around for the Shivering Isles, as they can’t bring them back home as a personal bodyguard.
5Dark Brotherhood Murderer
A Trio of Loyal Dark Brotherhood Assassins
Once players have become the Listener and successfully restored the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary to glory, they will have new NPCs to bless the sanctuary. These NPCs enter into three categories: The Assassin, Mage, and Archer. With a healthy dose of shortswords, damage spells, and bows, these murderers behave as loyal followers who will help players in battle. These are respawnable followers with unique attack patterns that serve players well in combat, but they can be a little creepy for those who aren’t abig fan of Sithis.
4Mage Apprentice
Followers of the Arch Mage’s Teachings Who Wield Magic
The Arcane University is filled with potential recruits who can aid players in battle through magical properties. What makes the Mage Apprentice more useful than other followers isn’t just that they can fight, but how they can use an assortment of spells against enemies that are impervious to physical damage. Mage Apprentice followersuse spells, which can damage and kill ghosts, spirits, and other ghouls, whereas unenchanted weapons will be unable to.
3Battlehorn Man-At-Arms
Friendly Soldiers Who Protect Their Lord With Sword and Shield
Few soldiers are as loyal and willing to protect their lord as the Battlehorn Man-At-Arms. Despite barely knowing the player character outside of them turning up to the castle and killing the bandits outside, the Battlehorn Man-At-Arms have decided that they will happily die for their new lord. These soldiers will patrol the castle, and players can bring them into battle where they will use steel armor and a longsword to protect the lord against any aggressive foes that come their way.
2Knights of the Nine
Proud Knights That Fight for Nobility and the Nine Divines
The proud Knights of the Nine might be void of personality, but they are not without purpose. These knights have generic names, but the benefit of their existence is that they will continue to respawn three days after their death. Not only are they valuable fighters with their unique weapon sets, but they provide decent assistance with their Knights of the Nine Shields and Templar armor to make players feel like they have a band of holy knights to go into battle with.
1Storm Atronach
An Elemental Creature to Be Crafted Each Time it Falls
The Storm Atronach is one of the three Atronachs that players can summon when they have the Frostcrag Spire home, and it’s easily one of the best. While some might prefer the style and flame of the Flame Atronach, the Storm Atronach has an intimidating size,a large health pool, and the ability to provide enemies with shock damage to really put them in their place. The fact that the Storm Atronach is a willing summon with no thoughts or feelings makes it the perfect fodder for fights.
