Summary

No one could have expected the level of quality and fun thatExpedition 33has brought into the gaming world, delivering agorgeous turn-based RPGthat has so much more just below the surface. Within the game, the characters players can choose for their party are full of life and realism, bridging the gap between reality and fiction thanks to the expert writing and voice-acting behind each one.

Lune has quickly become a fan favorite, and part of the draw to her is her kit. A mage at heart that makes use of all the elemental powers possible, players can turn her into a spell-slinging carry, or go for a more supportive route, thanks to her insane healing spells. Each skill and each build is centered around the weapon chosen, and Lune has plenty of exceptional choices that transform her powers in new and interesting ways.

Level 20

Base Attack generates 2 random Stains.

One of the most important mechanics with Lune is managing her stains in conjunction with the AP costs associated with each spell. Not only does the player need to worry about actually being able to cast a spell, but they also have to think about which stains to generate to give them the most power out of them. Trebuchim makes all of that easier, giving both Stains and AP by doing things the player does in a standard turn anyway.

Lune has no problem firing off a few shots to build up some stains, as most of her spells are pretty low cost anyway, so the lowered AP amount is quickly made up for by the bonuses brought by having multiple stains. The randomness can be a bit awkward at times, but it is still very easy to build up the perfect combo and unleash an elemental attack that few can get back up from.

30% increased Burn damage per Fire Stain

Fire damage is incredibly valuablethroughout the whole playthrough ofExpedition 33,so having a weapon that directly ties into that element in a big way can be incredibly valuable, especially against enemies susceptible to fire. Angerim turns basic burns into devastating scorches that quickly shred through enemy health bars, turn after turn.

clair obscur expedition 33 Lune Deminerim

It’s a very self-sufficient weapon that plays off its strengths. A new fire stain every turn, that then buffs up the burn, which can then be added once again with a simple basic attack, Lune becomes a blazing mage capable of dishing out significant damage over time and it doesn’t take long for enemies to fall thanks to the high tick damage and punishing spells that apply it.

Deminerim is one part of an elemental set of weapons that each plays into a specific element type in the same way. In this case, lightning is the focus, with the whole point behind the weapon being to deal as much electric damage as possible, while giving the player stains that naturally buff skills like Thunderfall and allow them to tear through anything in their path.

It’s nice to not only have a substantial damage buff that can be very powerful in a specific build, but also to have resources attached to the weapon that let the player keep in the fight for longer. It’s a great weapon choice against enemies that are particularly weak to Lightning and for players looking to take on the persona of the electric wizard they always wanted.

Start battle with 1 Earth Stain.

Coralim is another element-specific weapon that plays directly into the use of ice spells.Lune can make use of these skills in multiple different ways, for offense like Ice Lance, and even for support with Typhoon, there are multiple options for how to build an ice mage and how to best make use of the added damage and ability to repeatedly cast with no trouble.

The biggest issue that comes with Lune’s kit is keeping up consistent Stain generation, while still putting out some decent damage against the enemy. This weapon solves that problem immediately, and specifically for Ice skills, it can be a very useful tool to bring into certain encounters, and turns a simple bout of snow into a full-on blizzard.

clair obscur expedition 33 Lune Kralim

Start battle with 1 Ice Stain.

The fiery brother of the other elemental buffers, Lighterim is certainlyone of the stronger weapon choices for Lune. Providing a big buff to damage and sustained skill casting, the player will have no problem keeping the damage over time and will have access to stronger spells far earlier into the fight that would otherwise take quite a while to get going.

Hell is a great example of a skill that is very potent but normally takes a few turns to pull off. With this weapon, players can feasibly pull it off after just one turn, thanks to the weapon generating an extra ice stain each turn, and suddenly, an encounter that looks as though it could go on for some time, suddenly gets cut short by the blazing onslaught made possible with this weapon.

clair obscur expedition 33 Lune Betelim

Level 4

Casting a Skill increases the Skill damage of all other elements by 20%.

Resets when casting a Skill of a previous element.

Level 10

On turn start, if no Stains, 2 random Stains are generated.

+1 AP when Stains are consumed.

A good strategy when playing as Lune is to either decide on a specific elemental type and go full on into that archetype, or to keep options open and build out a more balanced set of skills to take on the multiple threats that await. This weapon plays into the latter, encouraging players to continuously swap between spell types and providing more than enough resources to make that possible.

It’s a great weapon that seeks out the most creative and quick-thinking players, and though it can be hard to guarantee that certain spells will go off with full effect, the ability to cast a spell every single turn, combined with an up to 100% buff, makes Kralim an exceptional choice for pretty much any Lune build and is just super fun to use overall.

Ramping Up The Damage

Using a Skill that consumes Stains increases damage by 20%. Can stack up to 5 times. Resets on using a Skill without consuming Stains.

Betelim is a super fun weapon that brings a bunch of strength along with joy. A very similar playstyle to Kralim, where players were able to throw out spells every single turn like it’s nothing, only in this case, players are not restricted by needing to swap between different spell types and can instead continue to unleash spells of increasing strengths, just through careful casting alone.

The power truly needs to be experienced firsthand to understand, as the ability to not only deal absurd amounts of damage in just a few turns, but to be able to keep the skills coming despite everything that is thrown at the player, can make the fights feel like a walk in the park as there is pretty much no limit to the amount of spells and level of damage that this one weapon can provide.

Bringing Darkness Into The World

50% chance to generate a Dark Stain when consuming Stains. Deal 50% more damage with Skills per active Dark Stain.

Base Attacks can consume one Dark Stain to deal 200% more damage.

With 4 active Dark Stains, any Skill can consume them to deal 300% more damage.

Scaverim is by far the best weapon choice for Lune in terms of raw damage output. The ceiling is eliminated with this weapon, yet on the surface, it can be hard to understand how. The way the dark stains function is that they take up a slot like any other stain, but can only be consumed with basic attacks or the four stain attack unlocked at level 20.

This means that the player can quite happily build up the dark stains by casting regular skills, and gaining increased damage with each subsequent acquisition, and by the time they get to the magic number four, they can finally unleash and ridiculous burst of damage that tears through anything in its path and makes Scaverim not only an incredibly powerful weapon, but an unbelievably satisfying one all at the same time.
