Summary
InClair Obscur: Expedition 33,every playable character has a uniquecombat purpose and mechanics for players to master. Sciel stands as one of the best damage dealers in the game, relying on her Dark damage skills to eliminate hordes of weaker enemies or deliver a devastating blow to a single target. By mastering the flow of applying and consuming Foretells to increase Sciel’s damage and skill effectiveness, as well as generating Sun and Moon charges, players can reach the Twilight state, which grants numerous benefits and increases all damage by up to 200%.
Sciel wields stylish double scythesas her weapon. Players canfind and upgrade over 20 unique weaponswith special perks unlocking at levels 4, 10, and 20. When shaping the best builds for Sciel, players need to examine each new weapon’s scaling, damage type, and unlockable perks, which could be game-changers. Below is a look at some of the best weapons for Sciel inClair Obscur: Expedition 33,highlighting their combat benefits and potential synergies.
7Hevasson
Transforms Sciel into a Deadly Sniper
Hevasson might not be the best melee weapon for Sciel, yet it’s hard to ignore the sweet bonus of dealing 400% more damage with Free Aim Shots. Granted, the ability to shoot isn’t as life-saving later in the game. But if players acquire Hevasson early, they can shape Sciel into a deadly sniper, further enhancing the potential of shooting with Pictos and Lumina. Givenhow many early-game Pictoscan boost shot effectiveness with additional effects like Marks, with the right setup, Hevasson can deliver spectacular results.
Gaining an extra AP (action point) by consuming charges at Level 10 is valuable, and can extend Sciel’s shooting capabilities. However, in the late game, Hevasson may be worthtrading for a more powerful option. Its Level 20 perk is underwhelming and forces players to rely on base attacks to gain benefits. Additionally, the weapon’s weird appearance might not appeal to all players.
Forget the Light, Embrace the Dark
Level 4
Killing an enemy with Foretell applies its Foretell to another random enemy.
Level 20
20% increased Dark damage with Skills.
Lusteson is an excellent choice for Sciel when facing multiple strong enemies at once. With this weapon, every Foretell that would otherwise be lost transfers to another enemy instead, saving the effort of applying them from scratch. Additionally, at Level 10, Lusteson applies a Mark on enemies after consuming a Foretell, so it makes things easier for the characters who come after.
Lusteson’s primary Dark element, combined with a 20% increase in Dark damage from skills, makes Sciel nearly unstoppable against enemies vulnerable to Dark damage. However, it becomes less effective against enemies resistant to Dark damage, unless players use Pictos to convert all damage types.
It’s All about Twilight
On Twilight Start, deal damage to all enemies based on the amount of charges.
Level 10
On Twilight Start, apply 2 Foretell per charge to all enemies.
Double Sun and Moon charge generation.
Martenon is all about Twilight, so players need to find a way to enter this enhanced state for Sciel as quickly as possible to capitalize on this weapon’s strong perks. Upon entering Twilight, Sciel applies two Foretells per charge to all enemies and also deals damage to all enemies based on the number of Sun and Moon charges. All that’s left is to hit enemies with something powerful to consume Foretells for increased damage, and the Dark Wave skill can get the job done.
The double Sun and Moon charge generation, even outside of Twilight, is just a cherry on top for the Level 20 Martenon. It offers a strong benefit for Sciel at all times if players, for some reason, can’t trigger the Twilight state quickly enough.
Apply Shell during Moon, Powerful during Sun, and Rush during Twilight.
Moisson is another strong contender for Sciel, especially for players who prioritize Sciel’s powerful skills above all else. Unlike Martenon, Moisson isn’t focused on Twilight. This weapon grants 20% increased Dark damage with skills at all times andprovides passive buffs to Sciel in any state: Shell during Moon, Powerful during Sun, and Rush during Twilight, ensuring players grow stronger continuously.
During Twilight, Moisson’s physical damage is converted to Dark, meaning all of Sciel’s skills and attacks deal Dark damage exclusively. Like Lusteson, Moisson shares the weakness of being less effective against enemies resistant to Dark damage without a workaround, such as the Painter Picto.
Who Ordered an Extra Twilight Move?
Extend Twilight by one turn on using a Moon Skill, +50% Twilight damage increase on using a Sun Skill.
Play again when entering Twilight state.
Tisseron is among the best weapons for Sciel due to its varied and strong perks at every upgrade stage.Great scaling and a Lightning elementare a potent combo, but that’s just the start for Tisseron. With this weapon’s multipurpose perks, Sciel gains extended Twilight duration by one or even two turns (requires a Moon Skill), and increased Twilight damage through Sun Skills. She can even gain a second turn instantly upon entering the Twilight state.
To compensate for the extra turn, however, Tisseron’s Power value is notably lower than that of Sciel’s other weapons, placing it alongside Charnon. However, this isn’t a significant issue given all the strong perks and synergies. When building around Tisseron, the main challenge is addressing the lack of AP. Players need to equip Pictos andLumina to make up for it, ensuring the second turn in Twilight isn’t wasted but instead serves as the final chord in Sciel’s electrified death symphony.
Apply 1 Foretell on Critical hit.
20% increased damage for each consecutive turn without taking damage, stack up to 5 times.
Charnon is a special Sciel weapon from every angle. It’s the only weapon for Sciel that comes with the Void element by default — arguably the strongest damage type in the game, typically only available to Painters. Second, Charnon eliminates the need to boost Critical Hit Chance for Sciel, as every hit during Twilight is critical (+50% damage), while also applying one Foretell as a bonus.
However, all of that is just an appetizer. The real deal with Charnon is its Level 20 perk, which can boost all damage dealt by Sciel by up to 100%. To benefit from it, though, playersmust master dodging and parryingto avoid damage. All of the above makes Charnon an ultimate late-game weapon for Sciel, delivering impressive damage results. If that sounds too good, there’s a catch: like Tisseron, Charnon’s Power is lower compared to other options. Last but not least, Charnon is not only one of the strongest Sciel weapons available inExpedition 33,but also one of the most beautiful.
As Strong as It Looks, and Then Some
While having at least 1 active Moon charge, Moon Skills are always Critical hits, but damage taken is doubled.
Base Attack gives 1 Moon charge.
Not to be confused with Blizzcon, Blizzon is among the most visually impressive weapons for Sciel inExpedition 33. Wielding a giant icicle in combat is a prize in itself, but Blizzon is far more than just for show. Not only are all Moon skills always critical hits while Sciel has at least one active Moon charge, but Blizzon also grants a 25% increased damage per Moon charge. With its Level 20 perk active and combined with Combo Attack Pictos, players can easily achieve a 50% to 75% damage increase from the first base attack. On top of that, Blizzon offers some of the highest Power values among Sciel’s weapons in the game.
On the downside, Blizzon won’t suit players who struggle to execute dodges and parries, as all damage taken by Sciel is doubled when using this unforgiving weapon. This makes Blizzon almost a twin to Charnon. Both weapons can significantly boost damage, but only in the right hands, making them demanding but rewarding weapon choices for Sciel.
