TheSteam Deck is a great way to play your Steam gameswithout being at your computer, but it does have some limitations. Not every game is compatible with the Steam Deck, especially older games. Even newer games can have a hard time running on the Steam Deck. Unfortunately, the Steam Deck has a hard time runningOblivion Remasteredbut it is still playable if you can find the right settings for in-game.

While you won’t be able to run the game on High at 60 FPS, you can at least get a decent frame rate and visuals that look (somewhat) better thanthe originalOblivion.

Best Settings on Steam Deck for Oblivion Remastered

Right from the get-go, you will want to ensure all of your settings are set to low. With the settings below, you will be able to runOblivion Remasteredat 30–50 FPS.

With these settings, you will get anywhere from 37 to 52 FPS while in interior spaces. Frame rates will be lower in cities and towns, but they will be pretty good in dungeons and caves. Certain things like talking to an NPC or loading into a new area will cause the frame rate to drop for a few seconds before going back into the 30 to 50 range.

For exterior spaces, however, you will not be able to get higher than 35 FPS at best. While exploring, your frame rate will periodically drop when you approach a large group of trees, but this is a temporary drop, and you will be back at 30 FPS before long.

If you want a more even frame rate regardless of where you are in the game, setting the Frame Rate Limit to 30 is a good option as well.

Unfortunately, with these settings you will not be able to fully enjoy the graphical glow up thatOblivion Remasteredreceived. It won’t look as good as it does on PC or even on console, but it is a good way to playOblivion Remasteredwhile you are away from your computer. You will get the occasional texture pop-up and some weird graphical glitches whenever you are loading into the open world, but the game will be playable.

While the Steam Deck can play on Medium settings, the frame rate will drop down to 10 FPS or lower frequently. The game will also periodically freeze on higher graphics.
