Summary

There’s a lot to explore in the vast reaches of Cyrodiil, which is one of the reasons players loveOblivion Remastered. Outside of the major cities, players can discover caves, campgrounds, delves, shrines, estates, and farms, many of which are not included on the map until the player finds them.

According to the official game terminology, many of these obscure places are referred to as settlements, andplayers can use them torest, resupply, and socialize. Quests, treasure, gear, and valuable experience can also be found here.

Oblivion Odiil_Farm

1The Odiil Farm

A Simple Quest And Generous Crops

It’s possible to stumble across the Odiil Farmin the wilderness becauseit’s along the main road heading east from Chorrol, but the quest is available in the nearby town. Valus Odiil in The Grey Mare, the town’s cheapest inn, will mention that his sons have gone to fight some strange beasts that have taken over the farm.

He sends the protagonist to meet his sons, and everyone proceeds to the farm. It’s fairly close to two Oblivion gates, which might explain the imps. The farm is revitalized after the beasts are cleared out, and other than extensive foodstuffs and a few brandy bottles, there’s also a Nirnroot plant growing in a pot inside the house.

the invisible farmers of Aleswell

2Aleswell

A Haunted Village

The ghostly town of Aleswell is hiding many interesting secrets, one of them being that the residents all vanished without a trace. Eventually, the truth of this “ghost town” is revealed, and players who venture here can help the locals become visible again. The quest can be found by speaking to one of the ghostly residents of Aleswell or by visiting Malene at the nearby Roxey Inn.

Some clues can be found in the nearby fort, which was also the home of a powerful wizard. The whole settlement consists of a garden and three buildings, two of which are private residences and the other is the Aleswell Inn, and one of the rooms here can be used as a residence and storage area once the quest is complete.

Blankenmarch house and garden Oblivion-1

3Blankenmarch

A Quaint Oasis East Of Leyawiin

Most adventurers will stumble across Blankenmarch on their way to the nearby Ayelid ruins, the vast underground caverns of Veylond, which are located almost beneath the unassuming village. Fort Doublecross is located slightly to the northeast. The settlement is made up of three humble homes, each one privately owned, along witha lush garden and other wild herbsgrowing nearby.

The hostile creatures here are trolls, the former Ayelid residents now twisted and evil, who are stronger than the usual scamps or vermin players encounter in the wild. This could be a warning to those who are seeking the ruins, the main enemy being the former Ayelid residents.

Lord_Drad’s_Estate_oblivion-1

A Comfortable Mountainside Retreat

This isn’t player housing, and Lord Drad won’t take kindly to peasants sleeping in the main house, no matter how heroic everyone thinks they are, but there are always free bedrolls in the guesthouse if the character needs a few hours of rest. Plus, there are the gardens and farmyards that can be harvested for snacks and Alchemy ingredients.

Lord Drad is a Dunmer noble, and his holdings not only include the estate but also a mine located slightly to the east. There’s been some trouble with the slaves in the mine, and Lord Drad needs a hero to help them, if the character wants something extra to do.

Gottlefont Priory Oblivion Remastered

5Gottlesfont Priory

A Scenic Chapel Ruin And A Free Bedroll

There aren’t any roads that lead directly to Gottlefont Priory, but it’s easily found among some lightly wooded hills near the Ayelid ruins of Narfinsel and Elengylnn. There are only two buildings here, a small thatched-roof cottage and a Gothic chapel, but residents Sister Angrond and Sister Phebe Jeanard keep the place homey and relatively clean. They can also vend some simple wares and offer the character food and a bed if they want.

A free bed is always nice, and this is a nice headquarters to use for those who are exploring the nearby Aleyid ruins orfarming for Alchemy supplies. There’s a generous amount of Lady’s Mantle here, which Restores Health and grants handy abilities like Nighteye and Feather.

Weatherleah - Oblivion Remastered

6Weatherleah

Reunite A Family And Rebuild Their Home

After finishing the quest “Separated At Birth” in Chorrol, the next in the chain is “Legacy Lost,” which leads the player to Weatherleah. The settlement can be found by chance while exploring, but players can also be directed there by one of the friendly residents of Chorrol. Several people remember the Jemane estate before it was overrun by trolls and can mark it on the map.

Once the second quest is done to recover the farm, the brothers return and start to rebuild and restore it. The ruins are cleaned up and the fields are plowed and replanted, and the player can harvest and use as much of it as they want. The final and third quest, “The Sins of the Father,” consists of recovering a stolen weapon from the nearby Redguard Valley Cave.

heading into the moth monk sanctuary

7Temple Of The Ancestor Moths

A Mysterious And Dark Place

The lore of the Ancestor Moths is connected to the Elder Scrolls and the high price mortals pay to read and decipher them. It’s possible to find this strange place at any time, but getting inside is the hard part because everything is locked, and none of the doors can be lockpicked.

Gain access to the chapel and its adjacent buildings, which include a crypt and the monks' quarters, viaa quest from the Thieves' Guildin Cheydinhal called “Turning a Blind Eye.” The character has to fence more than 600 gold worth of stolen goods before they can access the quest. This leads into the catacombs beneath the crypt and the Savilla’s Stone, which the player is expected to steal and return.
