Not that it’s a deep RPG game, butThe Precinctstill borrows some elements from various genres to give players a sense of progression. Dealing with criminals raises the player’s rank in the police station, and with every new rank comes an Upgrade Point to unlock new abilities from the skill tree.
The skill tree inThe Precinctis divided into four categories, two of which directly buff the protagonist’s offensive and defensive attributes while on foot, with the next categories expanding the support unit varieties and improving thevehicular battlecapabilities. There are good skills available in each category, but the priorities should be stamina, good support units, and higher vehicle durability.
7Max Support Ticket
Call Better Support Units
In order to call support units, players must have Support Tickets available, and better units require more tickets. With one Support Ticket, the player can only call for on-footofficers. Adding one more ticket through the upgrade tree will allow the player to spend them all on patrol support units or spikes to stop the suspect.
Leveling up in the ranks will also reward the player with one more ticket, bringing the total to three. With three Support Tickets, players can call Riot Van or Helicopter, both of which are quite beneficial in preventing suspects from escaping.
6Tracking
Don’t Lose Track Of Escaped Suspects
When there is more than one suspect to follow, it happens a lot that players lose track of one suspect while chasing the other. And if they don’t arrest the one they are following quickly, the other one might escape eventually.
With the Tracking upgrade, the whereabouts of the escaped suspect remain on the minimap for a longer duration. So, this gives the player a 50% increase in the time they have to arrest the first suspect and then start looking for the other one. Tracking helps the players not to lose XP so easily.
5Intimidating Order
Increase The Effectiveness Of Warnings
Shouting orders and warnings is one of the best gameplay mechanics inThe Precinct, and it is also effective in scaring the suspects and convincing them to stop. Now, if theentry-levelshouts don’t sound effective enough, players can boost their effectiveness by unlocking the Intimidating Order upgrade.
With this skill upgrade, the orders will become 35% more effective. And honestly, this is more useful than it appears. Many times, the suspects have a faster car than the police, and it’s really hard to hit their vehicle enough until they stop. In these cases, continuously shouting at them decreases the suspect’s blue bar significantly, causing them to eventually stop without wrecking the car.
4Riot Van Support
Sturdy Vehicle To Crush Suspects
While Intimidating Order is quite effective on low-levelcriminals, it doesn’t help much when dealing with gang members, which is where better support units come in handy. Riot Van is the sturdiest police vehicle inThe Precinct, and a single smash of it can drain up to 25% of a vehicle’s health bar.
Calling a Riot Van requires three Support Tickets, but the cost is really worth it, as one Riot Van can be more effective than multiple patrol vehicles. The only problem with Riot Van is that it’s slow, and after the first hit, it might not be able to reach the suspect again.
3Riding Shotgun
Shoot With Every Weapon While Behind The Wheel
Gang members are the most vicious criminals inThe Precinct, and they might assault police officers at any moment, even without an investigation. When they open fire from a vehicle, the player also gets permission to fire back, but using a pistol on a vehicle is just not effective.
With Riding Shotgun, players gain the ability to shoot with every weapon from behind the wheel, be it a shotgun or an assault rifle. Regarding how powerful these weapons are, they can wreck the suspect’s vehicle quickly before the player’s vehicle wrecks.
2Timed Breath
Never Run Out Of Stamina
On-foot duties require a lot of running, especially when the suspect tries to escape. The stamina bar inThe Precinctdrains quite fast, and increasing its amount doesn’t help much. However, unlocking Timed Breath gives the player the ability to always retain stamina while running, hence they never run out of stamina.
When this upgrade is unlocked, players will get a moving indicator on their stamina bar whenever it drops below 50%. If the player manages to breathe while the indicator is within the stamina zone, they will retain some stamina along with a brief running speed boost.
1Commandeer
Drive Every Vehicle In The City
PlayingThe Precinctlike aGrand Theft Autogame is not possible in the beginning, but once the players unlock the Commandeer upgrade, they can drive any vehicle on the streets. This upgrade grants the player a badge that allows them to borrow or steal civilian vehicles and use them as police vehicles.
With this upgrade, the player doesn’t even need to rank for unlocking new police vehicles, as every car on the street can be theirs to drive, and some of them are a lot faster than the original police vehicles.
