Summary
It’s no stretch to say that Spirit items are the most important and most powerful items inDeadlock. Since Spirit Power has a direct effect on some hero stats as well as ability stats, it’s crucial to increase Spirit Power over time, and Spirit items are designed for that!
The Spirit category comes with some of the most useful Active items, which can apply a variety of strong debuffs on opponents instantly, such as Disarm, Silence, Stun, or Sleep. And these effects can greatly help a player to take down an opponent, which is why players should pick their Spirit items more carefully.
10Mercurial Magnum
Upgrade Weapon-Based Abilities With Extra Damage
Strongly suggested for Haze, Grey Talon, Vindicta, and any other hero that has abilities tied to their weapon, Mercurial Magnum is a powerful item that grants multiple buffs to the weapon through the abilities of the hero.
As a passive ability, it takes Mercurial Magnum 10 seconds to fully power the imbued ability. After 10 seconds, the ability will have bonus Spirit Damage, bonus Fire Rate, and bonus bullets. So, the ability will deal 60 more Spirit damage if it deals any, and if it’s a weapon-based ability likeHaze’s Bullet Dance or Grey Talon’s Rain of Arrows, it will be infused with a bonus fire rate and bonus bullets. Damage-wise, this item is quite beneficial for Vindicta’s ultimate.
9Mystic Regeneration
Gain Health Through Spirit Damage
A cheap but utterly effective item earlier in the game to help restore HP much faster. Mystic Regeneration ties a health regeneration boost to attacking enemy heroes with Spirit Damage successfully. Knowing how often players use their abilities earlier in the match to damage each other, Mystic Regeneration easily becomes a superb source of healing in the early game.
The good news is that the amount of Health Regen gained through this item scales with Spirit Power. Also, the buff lasts for 4 seconds, which can be increased with duration buffs.
8Spirit Snatch
Deal Additional Spirit Damage By Performing Melee Attacks
Spirit Snatch is strictly suggested for heroes who usually go up and close with the enemies, dealing melee damage to them, such as Abrams andMo & Krill. The item provides an additional Spirit Damage that applies with a light or heavy melee attack, but it’s not just about damage.
With Spirit Snatch, the melee attack also steals Spirit Resist and Spirit Power from the target, lasting for 14 seconds. The cooldown for this passive ability is only 6 seconds, which means the players can renew and even extend the stolen stats repeatedly.
7Vortex Web
Vacuum Multiple Enemies Into One Spot
Vortex Web pays off well during teamwork. The item works almost likeDynamo’s ultimate. It sucks every opponent within its range to its centermass, but only lasts for 4 seconds. Many ultimate and non-ultimate abilities inDeadlockcanbenefit from Vortex Web, but since it doesn’t last long, it would be quite difficult for one player to deploy both Vortex Web and their ultimate. And that’s why it should be used with other members of the team.
Vortex Web doesn’t just vacuum enemies to its center. It also applies Slowing Hex to them, which includes movement slow and a shorter dash distance. Now, imagine how effective it could be if one teammate throws Vortex Web at multiple enemies, and another hero like Abrams,Grey Talon, or Lash performs their ultimate on all the targets.
6Decay
Deal Periodic Damage To Enemies
More than an item, Decay can be counted as a fifth ability for any hero inDeadlock. First, the item grants some Spirit Power and Max HP as permanent buffs. But when its Active ability is used, it starts dealing periodic damage to the target.
For 10 seconds, the target of Decay will receive Spirit damage based on their Max HP, while any form of their healing will be weakened by 35%. The amount of damage dealt scales with Spirit Power, which means items like Boundless Spirit significantly boost the effectiveness of Decay.
5Arcane Surge
Gain Significant Buffs For Every Dash-Jump
Throughout a match inDeadlock, players perform numerous Dash-Jumps to traverse faster around the map, but this movement trick can be even more fruitful by purchasing certain items, including Arcane Surge, a Tier-2 item.
Whenever the player performs a Dash-Jump, Arcane Surge grants three buffs to the next ability that they use: range boost, duration boost, and Spirit Power boost. The ability must be used within 7 seconds after performing the Dash-Jump, though, but since the item is passive, there is no limit in renewing the buff, as every Dash-Jump will just make the 7 seconds count from the beginning.
Aside from the conditional buffs above, Arcane Surge also adds one extra Stamina bar to the hero permanently and reduces the Stamina recovery time slightly.
4Disarming Hex
Lock Down An Enemy’s Weapon For A Brief Period
The name of the item spills all the beans already! When applied to an enemy, Disarming Hex prevents the target from using their weapon for 4 seconds, though they can still deal melee damage or use abilities. The item also applies a minor Bullet Resist penalty on the target.
Aside from its Active buffs, the item also provides a decent amount of Max HP and one unit of Sprint Speed permanently. As a Tier-3 item, Disarming Hex is suggested for the mid-game and late-game periods, but using it with other active items like Focus Lens or Curse can make it even more effective.
3Boundless Spirit
Gain A Massive Amount Of Spirit Power
Boundless Spirit always pays off, and it’s one of those items that fit into any hero. The item is just too powerful, and the buffs that it grants can benefit anyone with any playstyle.
First and foremost, Boundless Spirit grants 40 Spirit Power permanently, which is the highest amount the player can gain from a single item, and Spirit Power is something that can improve abilities, hero stats, and even other items.
Speaking of the conditional buffs, Boundless Spirit is a passive item that allows the player to heal themselves every time they cast an ability, and there is no cooldown for this condition. Not to mention that a bonus movement speed also applies along with the healing, which can be great for fleeing or chasing.
2Scourge
Deal Periodic Spirit Damage To All Nearby Enemies
While it’s not an upgrade to Torment Pulse, Scourge can be considered the Active version of that item, coming with a longer range. Scourge can be cast either on the player themselves or one of their allies. Once activated, it creates a damaging zone around the target, and every opponent entering the zone will take continuous damage proportional to their Max HP.
The zone remains active for 10 seconds, and it has a cast range of 35 meters, which allows the player to help their friends fight opponents if they can’t reach them in time. While Scourge does not provide any healing, it gives the target 40% extra Spirit Resist to survive longer in combat.
1Focus Lens
Silence A Target To Prevent Them From Using Their Abilities
By far, Focus Lens is the best Spirit item inDeadlockthat serves as the best offensive tool, especially when the enemy is outnumbered or it’s a close 1v1 situation. Focus Lens instantly silences its target for around 4 seconds, preventing them from using any abilities in the meantime. It has a 20-meter cast range, and it also comes with a damage delay feature, which applies 30% of the damage dealt to the target during their silence after they exit silence.
With a cooldown of around 30 seconds, Focus Lens is a brilliant item for solo hunters. Using it along with Disarming Hex could further punish the target, locking both their abilities and their weapon.
