Baldur’s Gate 3has no shortage of weapons to wield, with some of the most powerful magic weapons found in the hands of the game’s deadliest foes. From the well-known Everburn Blade and Silver Sword of the Astral Plane, to more obscure items like the Redcap Sickle and Staff of the Emperor, there are plenty of weapons that can be most easily accessed by disarming foes.

Disarming your opponent inBaldur’s Gate 3is often one of the best ways to weaken them, but in many cases, it’s also a fantastic opportunity to loot rare and useful items. Some weapons can be acquired much earlier in your playthrough if you take the time to disarm an NPC at an opportune moment, and certain items are exclusively available in this way, as this guide will explain.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Everburn Blade Greatsword

Best Weapons to Get Using Disarm in Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3

Everburn Blade

The Everburn Blade is the weapon everyone who’s ever used this strategy is familiar with.Held by Commander Zhalk on the Nautiloid, right at the beginning of the game, this blazing blade is a fantastic early boost to anyone who can wield it, and Lae’zel is perfectly positioned to take advantage of it. By casting Command: Drop on Zhalk, a spell you’ll have access to if you free Shadowheart during your trip to the helm, you have a 55% chance of getting him to drop the sword. While this doesn’t guarantee you’ll get it on Honour Mode, on lower difficulties you can save and reload as much as necessary to acquire this weapon.

While excellent early on, the Everburn Blade quickly becomes outclassed once you have access to even a +1 greatsword, since you can dip a +1 greatsword to get a +1 greatsword with the same extra fire damage the Everburn Blade offers. While this requires a source of flame to be effective, it’s generally a much better option once you have it.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Redcap Pretending To Be A Sheep

Sickle (Redcap)

The Redcap Sickles are a surprisingly useful weapon for low-level Monks.Available by disarming any of the Redcaps outside the Riverside Teahouse, these Sickles deal 2d4 slashing damage instead of the usual 1d4. These can be quite the power boost for classes like Monk during the early levels, where their unarmed damage is only 1d4, though as they increase in level and their unarmed damage is improved, they will quickly become obsolete.

Svartlebee’s Woundseeker

Svartlebee’s Woundseeker is Gauntlet Yeva’s weapon of choice. She can be found at Waukeen’s Rest trying to break down the door with other members of the Flaming Fist. While you could get this weapon by killing her,it’s entirely possible to acquire this item without needing to kill her or anger the Flaming Fist in general. You’ll need to leave a party member who can cast Command behind, a good distance away, and then initiate the dialog with the Flaming Fist. While talking, swap to the party member you left behind, wait for both of the npcs grabbing buckets of water from the well to look the other way, and then cast Command Drop from stealth on Yeva.

When the dialog with the Flaming Fist ends, she’ll leave the blade lying on the ground, but you’ll need to grab it quickly and while stealthed, or one of the NPCs getting water from the well will pick it up. If they do, though, you’ll just need to pickpocket them to retrieve the weapon.

Svartlebee’s Woundseeker is a +1 Greatsword that gives the wielder +1d4 to attack rolls when the target isn’t at full health, making it perfect for cutting down strong foes with a lot of Hit Points. Once they’ve been wounded, your chance to hit them on all future swings will be much better.

Silver Sword of the Astral Plane

The Silver Sword of the Astral Plane is Kithrak Voss’s signature weaponand is supposed to be obtained during Act 3. Despite this, it’s possible to retrieve it in Act 1 by successfully disarming him when he appears near the entrance to the Mountain Pass. You’ll have better odds when using a Fighter’s Disarming Strike, but you can still manage this using a Cleric’s Command spell. The main issue is you’ll only get one chance, since he immediately leaves after you attempt to disarm him, triggering a fight with the remaining Githyanki.

If you’re not playing on Honor Mode, you may reload as much as you want until you successfully disarm Voss, but if you’re playing on Honor Mode you’ll only get one chance. Here’s a step-by-step to maximizing your odds:

Kithrak Voss from Baldur’s Gate 3 in Act 1

You’ll need a Beast Master Ranger of level 5 or higher, a Character that can cast Heat Metal, a level 3 Battle Master with Disarming Strike, or a Character that can cast Command (These are ordered from most effective to least effective). You’ll also need the Iron Flask from the Zhentarim Shipment. You’ll need the flask if Voss spawns holding his crossbow instead of his sword (which happens irritatingly often).

If Voss is holding his crossbow, throw the Iron Flask next to him from a safe distance (where the party will not be pulled into combat, like up on the bridge above from stealth) to force him to enter melee combat and equip his sword, then complete the next set of steps as quickly as possible.

heat metal spell baldurs gate 3

If you’re using Heat Metal or Command, equip Melf’s First Staff, the Protecty Sparkswall, and the Shadespell Circlet to maximize the spell save DC, and make sure you’re casting while obscured to take advantage of the latter. If you’re using a Beast Master Ranger, summon their bear companion and load it up with as many buffs as possible (Bless, Elixir of Heroism, Bardic Inspiration, Phalar Aluve: Sing) and throw an invisibility potion on the bear (and whoever is carrying Phalar Aluve.) Then approach Voss with the Bear (and whoever is carrying Phalar Aluve) and use Honeyed Paws to disarm Voss. If you’re using Disarming Strike, the process is largely the same as above, but use a bow and fire from atop the bridge.

The Silver Sword of the Astral Plane is incredibly powerful, dealing extra psychic damage, providing advantage on mental saving throws, granting resistance to psychic damage, and making the wielder immune to Charm. It also has the unique weapon action “Soulbreaker”, allowing the wielder to deal extra psychic damage equal to their proficiency bonus and inflict stun.

Ketheric Thorm of Baldur’s Gate 3

Best Weapon to Get Using Disarm in Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3Ketheric’s Warhammer

Ketheric’s Warhammer is a decently strong Warhammer found near the end of Act 2.While you could just kill him and loot it, and you’ll eventually need to kill him anyway, disarming him and stealing it will make the fight against him far easier.Since Ketheric is a Paladin, he can deal incredible amounts of damage with Divine Smites. However, he needs a weapon to perform a Divine Smite, so disarming him and stealing his Warhammer will make the fight much easier.

Ketheric’s Warhammer is a +1 Warhammer that deals an extra 1d4 psychic damage, which performs well when paired with a decent shield on a Fighter or Paladin. Acquiring it during the first battle with Ketheric also means he’ll wield the Flail of Myrkul in his second encounter, a rarely seen but rather unimpressive flail that you’ll be able to loot after killing him or disarming him.

The Emperor from Baldur’s Gate 3

Best Weapons to Get Using Disarm in Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3

Staff of the Emperor

The Emperor holds the Staff of the Emperor whenever you visit them in the Astral Plane during Act 3.You can get the Staff by disarming the Emperor, and it offers a +1 Bonus to Spell Save DCs and Spell Attack Rolls when equipped. It also has the ability “Imperial Retalliation”, which has a chance to stun anyone who causes you to make a Saving Throw, if you succeed at that saving throw. This can cause attempts to cast spells on the wielder to backfire spectacularly, leaving dangerous foes vulnerable to your counterattacks.

There is no way to get the Staff of the Emperor without disarming the Emperor, making it one of the game’s rarest staves.

Hollow’s Staff

A great staff for necromancers, the Hollow’s Staff is held by Lucretious at the Circus of the Last Days. You can acquire it by disarming them, allowing you to take full advantage of its special ability, giving all creatures disadvantage on saving throws against your necromancy spells. If it weren’t for the fact that it gets outclassed by the next entry on this list, it’d probably be the most important item for any necromancer build.

Staff of Cherished Necromancy

If you don’t want to kill Mystic Carrion (in Philgrave’s Mansion) but still want to get the best Necromancy Staff in the game, you’ll need to disarm him and steal it instead. The Staff of Cherished Necromancy gives creatures disadvantage on saving throws against your necromancy spells, and harvests Life Essence from defeated foes. you’re able to have one charge of Life Essence at a time, and you can spend a charge to cast a Necromancy Spell without using up a spell slot.

As mentioned before, this staff’s unique properties make it the ideal choice for any necromancer, so it’s well worth going out of your way to pick it up if you can.
