The hardcover book will span 224 pages, offering a mixture of sketches, line art, concept artwork, and fully realized production assets. It promises to provide a detailed overview of howthe noticeably different visual identity ofBorderlands 4was developed. Apart from big-picture insights, the visual companion will also delve into the making of individual environments, characters, and weapons.
The Art of Borderlands 4is penned by Rick Barba, a frequent Dark Horse Comics collaborator whose most recently released project with the company is theofficialAssassin’s Creed Shadowsart book. This is Barba’s secondBorderlandsproject to date, arriving two years after his comprehensive exploration of the series' setting,The Worlds of Borderlands. As per usual, Barba’s expert commentary will aim to guide players through the evolution of ideas and visual language that defineBorderlands 4.
The Art of Borderlands 4is scheduled for release on September 30 in bookstores and October 1 in comic shops, priced at $54.99. Pre-orders are available starting today, May 20, via both local distributors and several major retailers, including Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Only the hardcover variant of the book has been announced as of yet, with Dark Horse Comics mentioning nothing in the way of a prospective digital release.
