Summary

Sarada Uchiha is a major character in theBorutoseries. As the daughter of two legendary ninjas, Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruna, her latent potential was always there. Now, in theTwo Blue Vortexmanga, she has awakened to her new powers, and some fans are under the impression that this was out of nowhere. However, there was already major foreshadowing that a lot of the fans might have missed.

Sarada’s New Mangekyo Ability Awoke In The Fight Vs Ryu

Ohirume is the Most Powerful Mangekyo Sharingan Jutsu

Sarada has been getting some much-deserved attention recently in theBorutomanga. She first unlocked the Mangekyo Sharingana while back in the first part of theBorutomanga, when the death of the 7th Hokage was announced with the killer being Boruto. The trauma caused by Naruto’s supposed death and the imminent death of Boruto allowed her to tap into this power, and now, 3 years later, she has finally used her Mangekyo Sharingan.

The name of Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan ability was revealedinBoruto: Two Blue Vortexchapter 21, and it is officially called Ohirume. This name translates literally into Great Sun Goddess, and the ability it holds is very overpowered.

By running away from my feelings, I suppressed my own powers. — Sarada Uchiha

Indeed, Ohirume gives Sarada the ability to summon black spheres that work similarly to a black hole. Sarada can control gravitational forces through these black holes and select what is affected by it and what isn’t. What makes these spheres so powerful is the ability to crush her enemies to death, something fans got to see her do to Ryu, a Shinju. Shinju are extremely powerful, so Sarada being able to defeat one so easily with this ability goes to show the extent of her Mangekyo Sharingan power.

How Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan Ability Was Foreshadowed

Sasuke Retsuden Holds The Key To It

WhileSarada Uchiha’s ability came as a shock to many fans, there have actually been hints leading up to it. Specifically, this clever hint can be found inSasuke Retsuden: The Uchiha Descendants and the Heavenly Stardust. This light novel for Sasuke turned manga, and then turned anime, holds the hint.

To be specific, the story of Sasuke Retsuden was not written by Kishimoto, instead, it was written by a person known as Jun Esaka. However, Kishimoto was still present in this project, so it isn’t too farfetched to assume that he had some input.

Now, that detail is very subtle and is revealed in a discussion between Sasuke and Sakura. Sakura reveals to Sasuke that Sarada has been obsessed with the cosmos. And fans now know thatSarada’s powers are related to the cosmos, so it’s definitely an interesting detail. While not official, Kishimoto could’ve had something to do with this small detail to be added. Here’s what Sakura said in the story:

“Right? Our girl is obsessed with the cosmos these days. She’s getting a kick out of it.” — Sakura

It’s very hard to believe such a detail would simply be a coincidence, and seems to definitely be foreshadowing for what’s to come. It is highly likely that Sarada’s obsession with the cosmos led to her eyes giving her the power of black holes
