Summary

Call of Duty: Warzonedeveloper Raven Software has released a new update for the free-to-play shooter, which re-enables Ranked Play after its temporary removal earlier in the week. The latest patch forCall of Duty: Warzoneis available to download and install right now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with a handful of bug fixes, server updates, gameplay adjustments, and more.

On May 7, Raven Software announced it would temporarilydisable Ranked Play inCall of Duty: Warzone. The decision came after players reported that they were not being awarded any SR while playing the mode, as well as a sudden increase in server disconnects. The studio then released a new statement stating it was investigating the issue and would disable the mode while a fix was being developed. Raven then confirmed that the mode would return “in its intended form,” but did not provide a timeline for when it would make a comeback. Thankfully, just a few days later, Ranked Play has officially returned.

Following the mode’s removal earlier this week, Raven Software has now deployed a new update that bringsRanked Play back toCall of Duty: Warzone. The update can be downloaded and installed right now on all supported platforms, and also comes with a handful of other fixes and changes. According to the official patch notes, which can be found further down this article, the update also addresses some server disconnect issues, but Raven says it will continue to monitor the situation.

The update has also fixed an issue causing the armor plate animation to play even though an armor plate was not being equipped. Plus, Raven has patched an “unintended strategy” that was allowing players to hoard loot items for later use by pairing them to vehicles and driving around. To rectify this, Raven has now made it so items will drop through a vehicle when they are dropped from kills or from a player’s inventory. The studio says it “applauds the creativity,” but notes that this is whyWarzone’s controversial backpack systemwas ultimately removed from the game.

While the game’s Season 3 update was a massive success, the shooter continues to find itself in hot water with fans, as the most recent mid-season update appears to have introduced a myriad of different issues. Not only are players once again complaining about bugs, server issues, and cheaters, but a recent update alsonerfed two fan-favoriteWarzoneweapons: the HDR Sniper Rifle and the CR-56 AMAX Assault Rifle. Both weapons returned with Season 3, and while many knew they were incredibly overpowered, fans pleaded with Raven to leave them as is. Unfortunately, a recent patch has now reduced many of the weapons' stats.

VEHICLES

There’s been an unintended strategy where players would hoard loot items for later use by pairing them to vehicles and driving around.

While we applaud the creativity, this is the same reason we moved away from a backpack inventory that devolves the gameplay loop and provides an uncompetitive experience to the game.
