Masayuki Koda, one of the directors of the anime series, recently shared an illustration of Boruto Uzumakidrawn by him on his social media. It shows Boruto Uzumaki fromTwo Blue Vortex, making fans even more excited for Part 2, which is expected to start with the second saga of the story, even though there are still a few events fromBoruto: Naruto Next Generationsto be adapted.
Kouda directed the series from episodes 105 to 281, and later from episodes 287 to 293. Ithasn’t been officially confirmed that he will return to direct the next season, but the illustration gave fans hope that he will once again be in charge of the anime.
When Will Boruto Part 2 Be Released?
WhileBoruto Part 2has been officially confirmedto be in production, the release date is yet to be announced.Boruto: Naruto Next Generationsdropped its final episode in March 2023, just before this part of the manga ended, andTwo Blue Vortexbegan serialization.
The anime was under criticism for relying too much on filler content to give the manga some time to advance the story. So, instead of continuing to create fillers, the production decided to put the series on a break. Studio Pierrot has been experimenting with releasing seasonal anime instead of creating series that run for years without interruption, and it seems that their experience withBleach: Thousand-Year Blood Warmade them change their mind.
Recent statements from the studio’s producers indicate that they will follow a seasonal schedule with their next series, meaning thatBoruto Part 2will probably not air continuously. This is more in line with how most anime series are released today, and this new production systemwill likely also affectBlack Clover, another anime produced by Pierrot that has been on a break for a long time. Actually, this is a very positive change, as it will allow the production to deliver even higher quality animation — it is hard to maintain a constant level of quality in series that have to run continuously for years.
