Daredevil: Born Again’ssuccess led to a 153 percent boost in watch time for the original series, with each episode gripping audiences differently. With a second season already underway, people won’t have to wait long to be taken back into the gritty world of Hell’s Kitchen. However, everyone has their own personal tastes about which episodes were the strongest and weakest, and now Cox himself has weighed in on the debate.
Cox was heavily involved inDaredevil: Born Again, both on and off-screen,being able to offer his input on each episode as he revealed that Kevin Feige personally called him for his opinions.That was something he shared a lot about a particular episode, which he has admitted wasn’t his favorite in this season.
He toldThe Playlist, “That was part of the original, and just for my money, I wasn’t into it. I didn’t like it. It was my least favorite of the episodes, and I kind of pushed back against it as much as I felt was possible. I said, “I don’t believe in a bank heist in 2025. That feels like a 1970s game. Too much technology these days for that to work.” And also, I didn’t think the actual device used for the theft was sophisticated enough. I really pushed back on the episode, and yet I hear from so many people that they love that episode.”
The fact that he has heard from numerous fans that they did enjoyepisode five ofDaredevil: Born Againshows that opinions differ among everyone, and ultimately, it is the fans they serve.Not every episode of a series will be a 10/10 experience, whether that’s down to the story, the acting, or some of the decisions made by the writing team. Unfortunately for Cox, that was the situation here, but the fact that he cares so deeply about the show is one of the reasons why it works and has proven to be a success so far.
‘With Interest’ was aninteresting episode ofDaredevil: Born Again, as it felt like something completely different direction from what had happened until that point. For many, that made the episode feel slightly jarring, asthe focus was on Matt Murdock’s skills as a lawyer as he was thrust into a bank robbery scene. It didn’t take into account the wider storylines throughout the season, which made it feel like a stand-alone episode, and for some fans, that was a good thing, while for others, it was disappointing.
Marvel Studios wasn’t afraid of taking bold risks throughoutDaredevil: Born Again’sfirst season, though, as was highlighted in the first scene of the debut episode. The popular character,Foggy, was murdered at that moment. While there’s lots of debate and fan theories speculating about whether or not he will return, it is clear that Marvel Studios is ready to take risks with this property. They have invested heavily in Daredevil as a character, as he has already popped up in numerous MCU projects, and taking episodes in slightly different directions does keep audiences guessing, which isn’t a bad thing at all. Not every episode ofDaredevil: Born Againis going to be the taste of everyone, including the actors themselves, but as long as the overall quality of the show remains at this standard, then it’s going to keep people entertained.
