Heroes in the world ofMy Hero Academiaare taught to be open and approachable, considering they’re going to be meeting many innocent civilians during their missions. With that being said, though, there have been a few individuals who had a harder time trying to take on this inspirational persona that’s expected of them, instead coming across as a little creepy, whether it be because of their spine-chilling appearance, or their terrifying Quirk ability.
In many instances, this can make it much more difficult for someone to become aPro-Heropeople can look up to, considering how easy it is for the average citizen to get a little freaked out upon seeing them. Despite that, anyone who embarks on a journey to become a hero still has a heart of gold and is determined to enact justice in the world, so while they may look like they’re on the creepier side, looks can be deceiving.
8Shinji Nishiya
Shinji Can Immediately Strike Fear Into The Eyes Of A Villain With His Freaky Design
With a brown mask covering his entire face, the only thing that can be seen when looking at the Pro-Hero Shinji Nishiya is his bright white eyes piercing through the sturdy helmet. This makes him seemvery mysteriousas fans are forced to guess what he truly looks like under the flashy ornament, but it’s also a creepy choice of clothing to begin with.
Thankfully, Shinji decided to join up with the heroes from a young age rather than become a villain. The reason this is a good thing is because his Arbor Quirk, which allows him to manipulate his wooden body, can dish out tons of damage, and also be pretty handy for defending those in danger too, making him a very reliable hero, despite not being the most approachable due to his odd appearance.
7Higari Maijima
The Faculty Member Is Always Dragging Around Giant Pieces Of Bulky Metal To Obscure His Face
Higari is a character who only gets a few brief bits of screentime here and there throughout the story, usually whenever Mai pops up, considering the two work in the same faculty office. Unlike his fun and vibrant companion, Higari is a lot more closed off, not only personally, but also in a physical sense, since his head is covered with a makeshift rustic helmet that almost appears like it’s crunching down on him.
Higari looks like an odd mashup between a human and a machine, which makes it easy to get a little spooked by him on the rare instances that he shows up to interact with the students. There’s also something very odd about Higari’s posture and how he will drag his body around like a corpse, adding to theeerie aestheticof his character.
6Yuga Aoyama
Aoyama Has No Problem Spying On People To Learn More About Them
Though it becomes clear late in the story ofMy Hero Academiawhy Aoyama was acting so weirdlyin the earlier arcs, some of the stuff he pulls off is honestly quite unsettling. A prime example of this is when he could be seen peeping through Midoriya’s bedroom window while he was asleep, which might just take the cake for the creepiest panel in the entire manga.
Despite his true affiliations eventually being revealed to Midoriya and the others, Aoyama still wants to be a hero, which is why he works so hard to make amends in the final war after he reveals himself. Aoyama can easily put people off with his weird and sinister behavior at times, but deep down, he’s just as passionate about helping and saving people as his classmates.
5Hitoshi Shinso
In A Matter Of Seconds, Shinso Can Enter A Person’s Brain Without Them Even Realizing
Shinso’s journey to becoming a hero has been a lot harder than most, primarily because ofhis Brainwash Quirk, which many see as something more suited for a villain than a hero. This meant people would get into the habit of keeping their distance from Shinso, seeing him as a bit odd and creepy due to his deceiving ability to influence a person’s mind.
Throughout the story, Shinso gradually grows more confident and becomes a lot more positive about his situation, but he’s still a character who always has an odd aura following him wherever he goes, despite being a highly generous and considerate person behind it all.
4Gang Orca
It’s Hard For Anyone To Keep Their Composure When Face To Face With Gang Orca
Gang Orca is a hero who doesn’t even try to be friendly. Instead, this hulking behemoth can always be spotted with a deadly serious look on his face, or a terrifying grin which implies that he’s ready to start causing some serious carnage with his hard-hitting orca attacks and techniques.
It’s also hard to ignoreOrca’s size, being twice as big as some of his fellow Pro-Heroes, and being more than durable enough to withstand even the strongest of villain attacks. All of this culminates in Orca being a hero who, while passionate about his role as a protector of society, manages to unintentionally present himself as quite a scary member of U.A.
3Ectoplasm
Ectoplasm Can Always Be Seen Smiling Devilishly At His Enemies
As someone who has managed to achieve the position of being a Pro-Hero, Ectoplasm is one of the most dependable people out there when it comes to fending off villains and keeping innocents safe. With that being said, though, he doesn’t exactly come across as all that endearing or friendly, with his appearance seeming more in line with a villain.
While Ectoplasm’s giant, devious smile is already enough to make someone feel a little uneasy, this is only amplified once he starts creating clones, who can easily surround a villain who tries to get the upper hand. Ectoplasm is incredibly strong, as he’s proven on numerous occasions throughout the story, but that design ispure nightmare fuel.
2Juzo Honenuki
Honenuki Is Often Mistaken For Being A Villain Due To His Appearance
Why Horikoshi decided to be so harsh when it comes toJuzo’s design, fans can only wonder, but it ends up making him undoubtedly one of the scariest characters in the series from a visual perspective. This is a real shame, considering Juzo is, in actuality, a very nice and gentle hero who simply wants to do all he can to make the world a safer place.
With his exposed jaw and giant beady eyes, it’s understandable why so many civilians would feel a sudden chill run down their spine when seeing Juzo jump into action. Still, that hasn’t stopped him from pursuing his dream of becoming a famous Pro-Hero whom people can rely on.
1Shihai Kuroiro
Shihai’s Quirk Is Quite Unsettling In How It Works
Shihai is one of the multiple unfortunate heroes who was born with a prettyterrifying Quirk, though he honestly doesn’t seem all that disheartened about the technique he acquired at birth, considering how much glee he gets from using it. Black is an ability which lets Shihai merge into a spot of darkness, allowing him to emerge from the floor or a wall to save a group of civilians from dangerous villains in record time.
Though his Quirk can be handy for catching villains off guard, it’s hard to ignore how scary it is in-action, especially when paired with Shihai’s devious grin which only rarely leaves his face. Shihai can give someone the creeps without even trying, but that doesn’t mean he’s a bad guy, despite looking like the newest member of the League of Villains.
