What will be revealed about Jiji’s house in the upcoming second season is the fact that it is the site of many a historical sacrifice orchestrated by the Kito family, Jiji’s ghoulish landlords, who have constantly sacrificed innocent lives to theTsuchinoko(gigantic earth snake yōkai)that resides beneath the house. During the first season, Okarun and Jiji discover a hidden room within the house, sealed away for an indeterminate amount of time prior to his family moving in. When they bust in, they find one of the most harrowing sights: the very room in which many sacrifices took place, includingthe entity in Jiji’s house that was pushing people to suicide.

What could potentially make the upcoming second season ofDANDADANbreak the internet is the revelation about the history of Jiji’s house, and the Kito family, who have been sacrificing people to the tsuchinoko in exchange for continued prosperity, but the Evil Eye entity in Jiji’s house is actually the ghost of one of the sacrifices from the Edo period who wound up being consumed by another entity, giving ris to the terrifying, Slenderman-like entity that has been frequenting Jiji’s nightmares. Jiji is going to be possessed by this entitymuch like the Acrobatic Silky took Aira, but unlike the Silky, the Evil Eye only has nefarious intentions. As a result, one of the first things you can expect from the upcoming second season ofDANDADANis a battle between a possessed Jiji and Okarun in full turbo granny transformation.
Despite the battle, the hero of the arc is none other than Jiji himself, who, after learning the traumatic backstory of the boy sacrificed to the tsuchinoko, Jiji is unable to feel hostile towards him, offering to house the entity in his own body while suffering one of the most Ranma 1/2 drawbacks ever: contact with cold water on any level enables the Evil Eye to take over, which is disastrous because the entity is very bloodthirsty and angry. Regardless of the risks,Jiji is determined to train his bodyand become a vessel capable of housing the immense power of the Evil Eye, much like Aira and Okarun did with their entities before him. So, Jiji is set to become a shōnen protagonist just like his friends, but what really makes the arc is the various levels of escalation that take place, leading to the dramatic showdown between Okarun and Jiji.
DANDADAN Season 2 is set to broadcast on July 3, while GKIDS has licensed the theatrical release of the first three episodes in the US, set to hit cinemas in June.
