Summary
Bend Studio has released a new update forDays Gone Remastered, introducing a variety of performance, audio, and visual improvements aimed at refining the overall gameplay experience.Days Goneoriginally launched as a PlayStation 4 exclusive in 2019, offering post-apocalyptic open-world exploration with survival horror elements. The game, like its upgradedDays Gone Remasteredversion, follows Deacon St. John, a former outlaw turned bounty hunter, as he navigates the treacherous Pacific Northwest overrun by creatures known as Freakers.
The remastered version ofDays Gonewas introduced for the PlayStation 5 in April 2025, improving visuals and lighting, more in line with the modern hardware. Despite the upgrades,Days Gone Remasteredstill had its share of technical issues. The developers at Bend Studio have been actively addressing problems, and the newest patch features its latest set of improvements for the game.
The May 2025 patch addresses one of the key criticisms with graphics and performance, althoughthere aren’t many issues withDays Gone Remastered. With the addition of the new Balanced visual mode, both PS5 and PS5 Pro deliver 40 FPS gaming. Using this mode, the game renders at 1800p resolution on PS5, while the Pro version delivers full 4K output using PSSR technology. This ensures decent smoothness with higher visual fidelity. VRR, or Variable Refresh Rate, is also enabled, which allows gamers with 120 Hz displays to take full advantage of the technology.
Additional graphical improvements include adjustments to performance mode, which still provides 60 frames per second for those who require a smoother ride. Apart from visual upgrades, the update makes several changes toDays Gone Remastered’s soundscape. The overall mix has been enhanced in addition to targeted adjustments to dialog volume, enemy weapons, and Freakers, adding to thefierceness of the enemies inDays Gone Remastered.
Besides graphical performance, the developers have also made some important more generic quality-of-life improvements. The update includes better streaming optimizations, faster loading times, and reduced input lag across all visual settings. The map has also received some improvements, including a bug fix where the screen would go too dark when exiting the map. It now also provides a more fluid experience as it is no longer capped at 30 FPS. Also, slight adjustments have been made toDays Gone Remastered’s Horde Assault mode.
Lastly, for those who prefer to use the Motion Sensor Function Aiming, also known as gyro aiming, this patch now fixes the feature. With theDays Gonesequel canceledfor the foreseeable future, the best way to experience this amazingly detailed open world is the remaster. It is great news for the fans of the game that Bend Studio is still determined to make it better.
