How to Kill a Breaker, Reacher, or Rager With a Knife in Days Gone

Players will gain access to a diverse and intimidating set ofranged weapons inDays Gone. However, they never know when they might run out of bullets and be unable to resort to their ranged weapons. On top of this, even though there are dozens of melee weapons that they may find or craft themselves, their durability will decrease with use, and they may eventually break.

Ultimately, the boot knife is players' most reliable weapon inDays Gone Remastered, and they can kill just about anything with it - even a heavy Freaker, such as a Breaker, a Reach, or a Rager, which is exactly what players must do to get the This Is Not a Knife trophy.

For those that aren’t familiar with the terminology, here is what a Breaker, a Reacher, and a Rager are inDays Gone:

To get the This Is Not a Knife trophy inDays Gone, players only need to deliver the final blow on one of these deadlier Freaks with their boot knife. This means that they can weaken them with whichever weapons they’d like and only grab their knife once it’s about to die. When put this way, it might not sound as complicated, but it’s easy to mess things up, especially if players don’t go in prepared.

Tips to Get the This Is a Knife Trophy in Days Gone

How to Easily Kill a Breaker, Reacher, or Rager With a Knife in Days Gone

To avoid having to retry acquiring this trophy and fighting one too many heavy Freaks, players will want to pay attention to the tips down below if they want to be successful when it comes to taking down the most powerful Freakers in the Oregon wilderness with their most reliable yet weakest weapon.

Get the Executioner Skill

The Executioner is the last skill in the Melee Skill category, and it can get the trophy within seconds - it’s the easiest way to get the This Is a Knife trophy inDays Gone. With the Executioner Skill inDays Gone, players will be able to kill heavy freakers, such as Breakers, Reachers, and Ragers, by sneaking up to them and performing a stealth kill, which is always done with Deacon’s boot knife.

Therefore, once they have it, they’ll only have to locate a heavy Freaker in the wild, sneak up to it (players can distract Freakers with rocks), and press the Triangle as soon as it appears on screen. Here is a video showing players how to do this:

Get the Switch It Up Skill

While it won’t get the job done as swiftly as the Executioner skill, this skill can be of great help if players haven’t purchased it yet or failed to get the stealth kill. The Switch It Up Skill is a Melee Skill inDays Gonethat doubles the amount of damage that boot knife combos deal to enemies. While it will still be difficult to take down these much stronger Freaks, gamers won’t have to stab them as many times as they would’ve had to without the skill.

Missions with Heavy Freakers

There are missions where players will encounter each type of heavy Freaker inDays Gone. While they are not easier to kill during these missions, they’re considered mini-bosses, and a health bar will be displayed on screen when fighting them. This makes it easier for players to decide when to stop using strong ranged and melee weapons and switch to their boot knife, allowing them to get a knife kill instead of accidentally taking down the Freaker by using too much force. Here are the missions where players will come across a Breaker, Reacher, and Rager in order:

If players have already unlocked the Executioner Skill before taking on the Breaker boss, they can easily sneak up to it and kill it at the start of the fight.
