Destiny 2 Ghosts of the Deep first jumping puzzle section (10)

First Encounter: Hive Ritual

The first encounter ofGhost of the Deepconsists of interrupting aHive ritualin the Titan Arcology zone, to open the door that the Lucent brood has sealed shut, and proceed further into the dungeon. For that, players will have to memorize all rune patterns and follow the trails left by the Lucent Hive ‘goo’, shutting down 3 different seals before returning to the door and completing one round of the ‘unsealing’ ritual.

It might sound simple, but due to the endless number of enemies and theHive Runesspawning at random across a wide area, it is a little hard to understand where to go and which seals need to be ‘broken’ first. So, here’s a summary of things to keep in mind:

Upon arriving at the sealed door, there will be a few rank-and-file enemies (Thralls, Acolytes) and a couple of Knights kneeling by the door. Kill them to begin the encounter, and keep clearing the hive until the Soulfire Binder Ogre appears. Kill the ogre and follow the luminescent trail to the first rune.

Upon arriving at the correct location, enemies will spawn. Defeat them until the Lightbearer Hive appears, and slay it to trigger another trail of green goo.Follow the trailto the next rune, kill the Hive, and proceed to the last rune. Once players eliminate the Ghost of the Lightbearer enemy in the third rune, they will receive a buff called ‘Vestige of Light.’

The Guardian who eliminated this Hive Ghost needs to run back to the starting point (the door with the statues an the Hive Seal) and kill a Hive enemy named Veilweaver Wizard to receive theDeepsightbuff. With the Deepsight activated, they need to look for the statue that has the same Rune symbol that was present in the various ritual places they visited. Deposit the Vestige of Light in the correct statue to break one of the Seals.

More enemies will appear, a new Soulfire Binder Ogre will appear, and players will have to repeat the same process: Follow the bioluminescent trail, kill the enemies, kill the Ghost, run back with the buff, kill the Wizard, and receive Deepsight, deposit the buff in the correct statue. Three more times are needed until the door opens, and the encounter is completed.

Ghosts of the Deep hasseveral collectibles players can claim, so verify to find them all to unlock some juicy rewards on your Triumph tab.

Jumping Puzzle Section Nº1

Once the door to the dungeon is open, players will need to traverse a really long distance to reach the second encounter. This Jumping Puzzle will be unlike any other jumping puzzle Guardians are accustomed to, instead, it will be a ‘dive puzzle.’

If players have played theSeason of the Deepcontent, they will begin to notice thePressure Resistancedebuff that appears on screen, marking that if players take too long to get into anAir Bubble, they will die. The correct way to solve this ‘jumping puzzle’ is to continue going down, and sharing (if possible) the Air Bubbles with the fireteam to prevent anyone from falling behind.

The first intersection between a diving area and a clear area (that means, without water) leads to a circular,engine-like zone, where players might feel a little lost. Look to the bridges across the room tospot a hole in one of the mesh-like structuresthat connect the walls. Jump through it, then remain on the right platform and look for an opening on thethird tube from the right. Proceed forward, and then continue to drop down.

The next area will be filled with Air Bubbles, more water-free sections in an area that looks like a broken part of the Dreadnought (Oryx’s flagship), and keep moving forward until reaching a smaller circular area, with a Lucent Hive Knight roaming around. That’s Ecthar, and Guardians will be dancing with him next.

Second Encounter: Ecthar, Shield of Savathun

The second encounter of Ghosts of the Deep isEchtar, Shield of Savathun. Ecthar is a lightbearer knight with the Void Shield attack that can delete players in one hit. Plus, he will be protected by a shield for most of the encounter, so defeating him by causing direct damage is impossible.

Players need to activate a new Hive ritual by killing Acolytes, Knights, and an Ogre to gain Deepsight and reveal some symbols, then dive below the platform, search for the correct symbols, and activate them to spawn a Lightbearer Wizard. This Lucent Hive enemy’s ghost will grant players Vestige of Light, which can be used to activate a shield-breaking zone in the middle of the arena. Here’s a full rundown on what players need to do:

When the battle begins, stay near the platforms on the sides and slay the minor enemies to break through to the altars positioned on the three sides of the arena. Players will notice that between the two sections, there’s a hole to access the underwater platform, and it also serves to return to the arena from below.

Direct the fireteam to clear out the enemies untilBlistered Knightsstart to appear, then kill them to make theKeeper of the Deep Ogrespawn. Once the Ogre is dead, one player activates Deepsight near the symbol wall (located on the opposite side of the totems) and calls the symbols. Another player uses the hole in the arena to descend and search for the matching symbols.

Echtar will also dive below and try to stop the player, meanwhile, the rest of the team should clear the enemies spawning on the platforms above. Keep an eye out for Acolytes and other minor enemies like Cursed Thralls, since they tend to become quite annoying, and dying could mean losing an important buff calledVestige of Light, which is what players need to acquire next.

When the player who goes underwater returns, the next phase begins: slay three Lightbearer Wizards to claim their Ghosts and pick the Vestige of Light buff.Depositthe buff on thethree Hive Statuesto spawn theWellkeeper Knight.Prepare for the damage phase, gather the fireteam and kill the knight. Step on the Light pool, the enemy drops, and aim at the Boss to break his shield, and begin the damage phase. Continue to direct fire at Ecthar until he falls, and don’t forget to kill his Ghost to finish the encounter, or he will come back to life.

Jumping Puzzle Section Nº2

Now, after the second boss is dead, it’s time to delve deeper into this horrible place. To do so, dive into the breathing hole in the middle of Ecthar’s arena, and look for a new opening to proceed forward.

Again, keep a close eye on the Depressurized debuff, share Air Bubbles, and keep delving deeper until finding an area with several platforms that lead to a new open space. This will be the arena for the third and final encounter of the dungeon, and, as players might have noticed by now, Oryx’s tomb.

Third Encounter: Simmumah ur-Nokru, Lucent Hive

The third encounter of Ghosts of the Deep might be the toughest Dungeon encounter in Destiny 2, that will pit players against the formidableLucent Hive Witch, Summumah ur-Nokru, as she tries to resurrect none other than Oryx, the Taken King, using the Light of a Ghost. To prevent this horrifying ritual from being completed, players will need to follow a series of mechanics to stop the Witch in her tracks and defeat her once and for all:

The encounter begins when any of the players approaches the Hive Ghost, attempting to revive Oryx and destroy it. Once this is done, enemies will start to spawn all across the arena, and players will need to spread and avoid the Arc attacks from the Witch, which cause tremendous damage and can kill any guardian in a matter of seconds.

Activate the Deepsight at the middle of the arena, and check the triangle formed by a green hive magic beam, which marks the three sites that players will need to go and break the ritual in each of the spots. Divide the fireteam so that each of them is standing on a ritual site, or stick together to ensure survivability. Whichever strategy is picked, make sure to stand on the Hive plates until a Knight mini-boss spawns, then kill it and look for a small circle connecting two of the ritual sites.

Go to the opposite ritual site, then aim through the circle and look for Oryx’s symbol appearing in the distance. Shoot to connect two ritual sites. Repeat on each site to break the seal and make a Hive Rune appear, then proceed to the next stage of the ritual.

Travel across the arena to the Water Gates and cross into the annex rooms, defeat the Hive Mini-Bosses there, then look at the symbol that appears once they are defeated. It should match one of the activated ritual sites. Squash the ghost to receive Vestige of Light, then go back to the arena, activate Deepsight, and dunk it on the matching symbol to the one appearing on the mini-boss room.

Do this three times (one for each room and ritual symbol) to begin the damage phase. Break the Witch’s shield, then do as much damage as possible. If she dies, don’t forget to squish her Ghostto finish the encounter. Congratulations, you’ve had complete Ghosts of the Deep, and hopefully, received The Navigator as a reward.
