Summary

As it is a live-service game,Destiny 2is essentially one massive suggestion box, as players continuously go to Reddit and other online forums to express both their contentment and discontentment with the current state of the game. Many of these requests understandably come fromDestiny 2’s most dedicated players, and are simply a sign of their love for the game. Unfortunately, not all of these requests are or can be met by Bungie, but that hasn’t stopped the developer from doing what it can — as evidenced by a highly requested feature coming toDestiny 2with the launch of its Edge of Fate expansion in July.

Destiny 2’s recent reveal livestream for The Edge of Fate, Bungie went over countless changes and new additions coming to the game with the expansion’s launch, but one of those additions might have received a bit more attention from longtime fans than any other. Just one week following the release of The Edge of Fate,Destiny 2players will finally be treated to a feature they have been requesting for years — a proper shooting range.

Destiny 2 Is Finally Adding a Proper Shooting Range

The Destiny 2 Community Has Been Requesting a Proper Shooting Range for Years

While there have been manyfan requests forDestiny 2over the years, at the top of those lists has been a desire for a proper shooting range. In fact, since the earliest days ofDestiny 2, players have requested a dedicated shooting range to test weapons and builds. In response to those requests,Destiny 2has introduced several shooting range-like features, but the problem is that none of them have been permanent.

The most notable shooting range was introduced duringDestiny 2’s Season of Opulencevia the Tribute Hall. The Tribute Hall featured stationary targets where players could test various weapons and builds, complete with damage numbers and some customization options. Unfortunately, it was removed in later updates, sparking fans to request another shooting range be added.

While there have been many fan requests forDestiny 2over the years, at the top of those lists has been a desire for a proper shooting range.

The Enclave on Marslater introduced a type of shooting range, though it was nothing compared to the Tribute Hall and was merely a space where players could test weapons on floating rocks that displayed damage numbers. The main issue here was how limited it was, as it didn’t allow testing of certain perks or simulate various combat scenarios. Thankfully, Bungie has finally listened to the feedback of its fans regarding a proper shooting range, as one will be introduced toDestiny 2alongside the release of The Edge of Fate.

Destiny 2’s New Shooting Range Will Be Added Shortly After The Edge of Fate’s Launch

As if The Edge of Fate wasn’t already bringing a great deal of changes and new features to the game, players can expect the new Shooting Range to be added to theTower inDestiny 2just one week after the expansion’s launch. This particular week will kick off what Bungie is referring to as “Arms Week,” which will focus on one weapon archetype whenever the event comes around. During Arms Week, players will be able to acquire a new Legendary weapon of that type with some volatile mods for that week and some focusing that players can do.

Based on what Bungie revealed during the Edge of Fate showcase, the new Shooting Range will come with a wide variety of customization options, so players can count on it being an effective way to test out their weapons and builds.

This is precisely whyDestiny 2’s new Shooting Range will be added during the first Arms Week, because if the week will be focusing on weapons in particular, players will need a place where they can properly test those weapons out and any unique rolls they obtain. It’s currently unclear where the new Shooting Range will be in the Tower, but it’s possible it will be given its own area since it seems like such a substantial addition. More than likely, a previously closed door orblocked-off area in the Towerwill be opened during Arms Week, granting players access to the new Shooting Range.
