Redrix’s Estoc belongs to the rare breed of Legacy PR-55 Frame Pulse Rifles inDestiny 2, and it has proven itself to be a very strong contender in the Crucible. Much likethe Rose Hand Cannon, Guardians who prefer aggressive and highly-mobile playstyles have a lot to look forward to when it comes to the Estoc, and if you love competing against other players, getting this weapon should be a no-brainer.
In this guide, we’ll be covering the most PvE and PvP coveted rolls for Redrix’s Estoc inDestiny 2, including alternative options for the weapon for those who aren’t interested in the Crucible.
PvP
As of writing, Redrix’s Estoc is one of the only two Legacy Frame Pulse Rifles in the game, with the other being its closest competitor:the BxR Battler.
Weapon Parts
The first, second, and fifth column perk slots for Redrix’s Estoc are reserved for weapon parts, namely for the Barrel, Magazine, and Stock respectively. Unlike third and fourth-column perks, these provide only stat boosts.
The Legacy PR-55 Frame’s bonus gives this weapon increased accuracy, stability, and target acquisition while firing from the hip. Despite that, players will still want to ADS with Redrix’s Estoc in order to maximize its effective range. Smallbore and Hammer-Forged Rifling are great for this, thoughArrowhead Brake is also a decent option.Combine the latter withFitted Stockto get a Recoil Direction of 95.
If your weapon’s Recoil Direction ends in 5, then it will be more likely to kick upwards when fired. The higher the Recoil Direction, the less erratic the recoil pattern.
Your choice of Magazine perk is completely up to personal preference. Tactical Mag is good for the extra ammo and reload speed it provides, while Accurized Rounds is the go-to for many PvP weapons for its solid boost to Range.
PvE Roll
Pulse Rifles usually aren’t favored when it comes to PvE, but Redrix’s Estoc can be fairly decent at it if players can get the right perks. We recommend the perks listed above for the following reasons:
Any combination of these perks will serve you well, though the Rimestealer+Headstone combo stands out for the synergy between both perks.
PvP Roll
The Crucible is where Redrix’s Estoc shines brightest. It is incredibly versatile when it comes to engagement ranges, and it can compete against other meta PvP weapons with relative ease, so long as players can take advantage of its strengths.
Lone Wolfis a great pick for Competitive and Trials of Osiris matches — it passively gives players bonuses to aim assist, airborne effectiveness, and ADS speed, and those bonuses get stronger if players have no nearby teammates. However, if you’d rather have something that’s a bit more reliable, thenZen Momentis the perk to go for.
Sword Logicis great in the Crucible, but it’s also risky. If you can get 5 stacks of this perk, Redrix’s Estoc will be able to beam people down in just 5 Precision hits. If you don’t like the Sword Logic playstyle, then go forHeadseeker. The latter acts like a safety net for your accuracy — if you somehow hit a body shot, your next bullet becomes more accurate and will curve toward the enemy’s head more intensely.
While it’s tempting to hip-fire all the time with Redrix’s Estoc, this should only be done when enemies are close, as your damage will start to fall-off at ~19 meters if you aren’t aiming with your sights.
Where to Get Redrix’s Estoc
This weapon isa reward from the Crucible’s Competitive playlist. Once players complete their first 7 Competitive games, they’ll get their first Redrix’s Estoc. To get more copies of this weapon, you need to play another 3 Competitive games the week after you completed your placement matches.
Competitive playlist weapon rewardscan only be obtained once per week, per character. However, they will eventually be added to Lord Shaxx’s Legacy Decoding menu once they’re replaced by a new Competitive weapon reward.
