Summary

In a wild twist of fate duringDestiny 2’s highly anticipated reveal of its upcoming expansion, The Edge of Fate, Bungie offered a teaser of another expansion currently slated to follow it, Renegades, and it might have taken center stage in the showcase that wasn’t meant for it. The teaser trailer forDestiny 2’s upcoming Renegades expansion was special for one major reason — it revealed an expansion that is themed entirely afterStar Wars, complete with skins resembling Darth Vader,General Grievous, and Kylo Ren.

Renegades won’t mark the first timeDestiny 2has done aStar Warscrossover, as there was one fairly recently that allowed players to acquire themed skins then as well. However, there is one major question lingering after the reveal ofDestiny 2’s Renegades expansion and theStar Warscrossover that preceded it: where are all the Jedi? So far,Destiny 2’s Renegades expansion seems to emphasize the Dark Side of the Force, just like theStar Warscrossover that came before it. While this could be a hint at another Darkness-based subclass coming toDestiny 2, the much more pressing matter is whether players will gain access to Jedi-themed skins alongside the rest.

Destiny 2 Should Feature Jedi-Themed Skins in Its Renegades Expansion

Destiny 2 Has Been Putting a Special Emphasis Dark Side-Themed Skins and Items

While there is still a lot left to learn aboutDestiny 2’s upcoming Renegades expansion, if there is one thing that has been made clear about it, it’s that players will somehow gain access to plenty ofStar Wars-based items and skins. However, at the forefront of marketing for Renegades are three Dark Side-themed Guardian skins:Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, and General Grievous. Beyond that are other skins forDestiny 2’s Ghost, the player’s ship, and their Sparrow — each of which is also based on the Dark Side.

Additionally,Destiny 2recently had anotherStar Warscrossoverthat allowed players to acquire Dark Side-themed items and skins as well. Between Titans, Warlocks, and Hunters, they each had access to an ornament set resembling a Stormtrooper, Emperor’s Royal Guard, and Death Trooper, respectively. Players could also acquire a Ghost shell reminiscent of the second Death Star, a ship ornament that made it look like a Tie Interceptor, and a Sparrow skin that transformed it into a speeder bike from Endor.

Destiny 2’s Renegades' Jedi-Themed Items and Skins Need to Be More Than a Tease

Needless to say, there is plenty of room for Jedi-themed skins and items inDestiny 2with its upcoming Renegades expansion. Thankfully, the teaser trailer for Renegades showed a Guardian holding agreen lightsaber, which could be indicative of even more where that came from. Granted, Dark Side-themed accessories are arguably more stylish than anything based on the Jedi, but for those players who would rather feel like a hero than a villain while they progress through Renegades' story, Jedi-themed ornaments are a must.

The teaser trailer for Renegades showcased Guardians wielding weapons reminiscent of lightsabers, hinting at new melee-focused combat options.

Destiny 2embracing theDark Side of the Forcewith its Renegades expansion is a bold and undeniably great move, but that’s only half the story. IfDestiny 2really wants to deliver a crossover that resonates with every kind ofStar Warsfan, it needs to balance the scales with Jedi-inspired content in its upcoming Renegades expansion. The foundation is already there, and the glimpse of a green lightsaber in Renegades' teaser trailer suggests more may be on the way. Even so, if Renegades is going to live up to the hype, players should be given the choice to channel the light just as much as the darkness.
