The Dexter-verse has always featured high-profile actors in its cast for each season, but the upcoming spin-off series,Resurrection, feels more jam-packed than ever with Hollywood’s finest.Uma Thurman will play a character called Charley, and her role has been given a significantly higher billing than normal, suggesting it might not just be a season-long arc for her character.Jimmy Smits was the first significantly big star to join the Dexter-verse in a special guest star capacity, in the third season ofDexter, and this was followed by John Lithgow’sall-time best Dexter villain rolein the fourth season. Smits and Lithgow will both return inResurrectionin guest roles, while Peter Dinklage looks set to become the big villain of the new series.
Thurman’s character, Charley, will be linked to Peter Dinklage’s villain, Leon Prater, but plot details are being kept under wraps, and it’s unclear if the Pulp Fiction star will be a side villain, or a potential ally for Dexter. Her second billing suggests she might end up being a main character for more than one season, withResurrectionvery much not a limited series like its predecessor.
The Official Cast List Of Dexter: Resurrection Will Consist Of A Mixture Of Returning And New Actors
The main cast of Dexter: Resurrection will consist of a staggering ten actors, with four legacy characters returning, and six newcomers.
Dexter Resurrection’s Cast List And Billing order:
Jack Alcott was the recipient of second billing inDexter: New Blood, but he’s being pushed down the pecking order. Alcott’s Harrison Morgan is still expected to play a big part in the new season, as Dexter heads to New York City to track him down, and mend their relationship. The official synopsis reads:
Dexter: Resurrection takes place weeks after Dexter Morgan takes a bullet to the chest from his own son, as he awakens from a coma to find Harrison (Jack Alcott) gone without a trace. Realizing the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City, determined to find him and make things right. But closure won’t come easy. When Miami Metro’s Angel Batista (David Zayas) arrives with questions, Dexter realizes his past is catching up to him fast. As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves deeper than they ever imagined, and that the only way out is together.
David Zayas only made two guest appearances inNew Blood, which was extremely disappointing for legacy fans, so his return to the main cast inResurrectionhas been well-received.Fans will be hoping to see a long-awaited stand-off between his character,Angel Batista, and Dexter Morgan in the upcoming series, now that the truth is out about Miami’s most prolific serial killer. James Remar’s return asDexter’s Ghost, Harry Morgan, will also go down well with longtime fans. Alongside the series regulars, the new series will feature significant guest appearances from Neil Patrick Harris, Kristen Ritter and David Dastmalchian.
