Disney Dreamlight Valleyhas become an incredibly popular game since its early access release in 2022 and its full release at the end of 2023. With over five million players in its early access period alone,Disney Dreamlight Valleyhas carved out its own niche even in a market crowded with similar titles. Disney also has continued to support this life-simulation game with plenty of new content, with anAlice in Wonderlandexpansion arriving last month and aPeter Panexpansion expected to release sometime later this year.
Noticeably, much of thecharacter roster inDisney Dreamlight Valleyappears to pull from more modern films. Understandably, as the game is meant to appeal to a younger audience familiar with current Disney films, many of the major character additions hail from recent Disney animated features, Pixar films, and Renaissance-era animated movies that fans of all ages would recognize. Even so, Disney is sitting on a gold mine of old-school characters that could absolutely be added, specifically those from Mickey, Donald, and Goofy’s bubbles.
Disney Dreamlight Valley Has Plenty Of Room For Classic Characters
Disney Dreamlight Valley Could Add Some Other Iconic Ducks
If Disney were to bring in more characters from Mickey, Donald, and Goofy’s universes inDisney Dreamlight Valley, it could start by bringing inHuey, Dewey, and Louie fromDuckTales. After all, the television show remains incredibly popular, and the trio’s great-uncle Scrooge McDuck is already a character in the game. Adding in Huey, Dewey, and Louie would tie in perfectly with Donald and Scrooge’s appearances, and also serve as a great throwback to the classic show from the 1980s (as well as its 2017 reboot).
To that end, bringing in Huey, Dewey, and Louie would be a great baseline forDisney Dreamlight Valleyto eventually implement Darkwing Duck as a new character. Even thoughDarkwing Duckis not a proper spinoff ofDuckTales, several characters from the latter appear in the former, meaning the two shows still share some commonalities. Adding Darkwing Duck would have all of Disney’s major duck characters under one roof and also create some extra excitement for the upcoming reboot that is being developed for Disney+.
Mickey And Goofy’s Universes Shouldn’t Be Left Out Of Disney Dreamlight Valley
On top of these characters, Disney can also make some connections toMickey Mouse’s classic cartoonswith some new characters inDisney Dreamlight Valley. Characters such as the villainous Pete, alongside a potential deep cut in Clarabelle Cow, could bring an old-school flair to a game otherwise loaded with very modern characters. This also wouldn’t be Clarabelle Cow’s first prominent appearance in a Disney video game, as she previously appeared in titles such asToontown Online,Epic Mickey, and severalKingdom Heartstitles.
Another character who could make a great inclusion inDisney Dreamlight ValleyisMax Goof, Goofy’s son fromA Goofy Movie. This film has received quite a cult following, and it has seen a massive wave of retroactive appreciation, especially thanks to the release of the recent fan-directed documentary surrounding the movie,Not Just a Goof. If Disney wanted to cash in on the recent wave of love forA Goofy Movie, the Mouse House could create some sort of belated tie-in to the documentary by bringing Goofy’s son back as a playable character in this game.
On top of these characters, Disney can also make some connections to Mickey Mouse’s classic cartoons with some new characters inDisney Dreamlight Valley.
Disney Afternoon Cartoons Could Make Great Additions To Disney Dreamlight Valley
If Disney does not want to implement characters specifically from Mickey, Donald, and Goofy’s orbit intoDisney Dreamlight Valley, there are still plenty of classic old-school characters to add, specifically from the Disney Afternoon cartoon shows. Characters from shows such asTailSpinandGargoylescould help revitalize some interest in these classic shows, and also introduce them to a brand-new audience. Additionally, Chip and Dale would make excellent additions, especially in the wake of the recently releasedChip and Dale: Rescue Rangersfilmin 2022.
Disney Dreamlight Valleyalready has an incredibly loaded roster of characters, but there could be even more room for expansion in the future. Adding in characters from Mickey, Donald, and Goofy’s worlds, along with other throwback characters, would give the game an even greater appeal outside of the younger audience that it already appeals to. Here’s hoping this year’sAlice and WonderlandandPeter Panexpansions are not the only classic, old-school Disney representation we get to see inDisney Dreamlight Valley.
