Chapter 5 ofDOOM: The Dark Agesintroduces the dragon, a flying mount that allows for huge, wide-open levels filled to the brim with secrets and collectibles. The Holy City of Aratum has a ton of Gold, Rubies, and other upgrades forDOOM: The Dark Agesplayers to find, but some of them are tucked away in parts of the level that you wouldn’t even suspect.

All Gold Locations in Chapter 5
Gold Chest #1
The first Gold chest can be found near the Gore Nest and the first secret Layover challenge landing spot as soon as the dragon tutorial ends. Once you reach the open-air part of the level and are tasked with destroying the four Hell Carriers, turn left and take out the titan with your dragon. Land on the tower where the titan was and then follow the path along the tower’s edge to find the first Gold chest underneath the Gore Nest.
Gold Chest #2
There is more Gold hidden on the second Hell Carrier (to the right when you first start the level). It crashes into a building when you board it. Go to the Sentinel Shrine and follow the nearby trail of Gold into a pit leading to a huge stash of even more Gold plus some cultists you’re able to kill for one of this chapter’s challenges. Swim back to the surface to find the second Gold chest.
Gold Chest #3
The third Gold chest in Chapter 5 ofDOOM: The Dark Agesis located in a secret combat arena aboard the final Hell Carrier (with the Super Shotgun). You’ll need to destroy a shield wall to reach it.
Hell Carrier #1 Gold
There’s a small stash of Gold hidden at the very end of the first Hell Carrier. Once you defeat the towering Cyberdemon guarding the ship’s core, immediately turn around and head underneath the catwalk you dropped down from to find it.
Hell Carrier #2 Gold
In addition to the Gold chest found near the Sentinel Shrine in the section with the second Hell Carrier, there is also some more Gold hidden near the Life Sigil behind a locked door. Get the Blue Keycard just past the Sentinel Shrine to open it.
Hell Carrier #3 Gold
There is more Gold to be found on the third Hell Carrier (the one in the area past the fleshy monster on the wall). There is a small pile of Gold unlocked after completing the first combat encounter aboard the ship just before obtaining the Cycler weapon. The rest of the Gold aboard this Hell Carrier is located at the end of the segment just before destroying the ship’s core. When you drop down from the final catwalk, turn around and you’ll find the Gold hidden next to a Codex collectible.
Hell Carrier #4 Gold
The fourth and final Hell Carrier is accessed by flying up through a vent back to the main city once you’ve obtained the Cycler. There is a small amount of Gold to collect along a hidden path leading to the Holy City of Aratum Codex (described below). There is also a Gold chest located in a hidden combat arena accessed with a shield wall near the no return at the end of the Hell Carrier.
All Ruby Locations in Chapter 5
Ruby #1
The first Ruby is hidden at the very bottom of a deep pit underneath the first Hell Carrier. At the bottom of the pit is a secret dragon landing zone for the Layover challenge. Dismount the dragon, stand on the glowing plate, and toss your shield at the glowing metal object to gain access to a new area. Dive into the water and grab the Red Keycard, which unlocks the door to the Ruby.
Ruby #2
The second Ruby in Chapter 5 can be found just after unlocking the Super Shotgun. Once you get the weapon, continue forward into the building and you’ll see the Ruby locked behind a gate. Use your shield to drop the chandelier floating above the green pressure pad to access it.
All Demonic Essence Locations in Chapter 5
Health Demonic Essence
The Health Demonic Essence is located on the first Layover secret dragon landing zone near the start of the level. Slay the final boss of the Gore Nest to claim it.
Ammo Demonic Essence
The Ammo Demonic Essence is located at the end of the second Hell Carrier section. Slay the Hell Knight Leader miniboss to claim it. Unlike the Health Demonic Essence, this one is unmissable since it’s directly in the path of a main objective.
All Codex Entries in Chapter 5
Deag Loric Codex
TheDeag Loric Codexis located at the end of the third Hell Carrier (the one with the Cycler weapon). When you reach the ship’s core, turn around and you’ll see some Gold leading you to the Codex. verify to grab it before leaving the ship.
Holy City of Aratum Codex
The Holy City of Aratum Codex can be found immediately after getting the Super Shotgun. Once you get the gun, head inside the building and continue to the right. Climb up and use your shield to destroy a glowing red chain holding up a bridge. Then, use your shield to push the big box to the other side so you may climb up and reach a secret area containing the Codex. This is also where the third and final Countercult circle is.
All Collectible Toys in Chapter 5
Serrat Toy
TheSerrat Toy collectiblecan be found immediately after collecting the second Ruby and Super Shotgun. Once you get the Ruby, continue outside but do not cross the bridge with an objective marker. Instead, turn right and follow the secret path. There’s a little bit of Gold, and the path leads straight to the Serrat Toy.
All Skins in Chapter 5
Nightmare Pulverizer Skin
There is askin for the Pulverizer weaponlocated at the second secret dragon landing zone underneath the first Hell Carrier. Take your dragon down into the deep pit, unlock the landing zone, and then follow the Gold trail into a secret hallway where the skin is waiting.
Countercult Locations
Countercult Circle #1
The first cultist circle is located in the secret Layover landing zone underneath the first Hell Carrier. you may find them on the outskirts of the area near the hallway leading to the Pulverizer skin.
Countercult Circle #2
The second cultist circle can be found near the Sentinel Shrine in the second Hell Carrier segment. From the Sentinel Shrine, follow the trail of gold leading into an alley and drop down into the pit. You’ll find the cultists next and Gold Chest down there.
Countercult Circle #3
The third and final cultist circle is located near the secret area with the Holy City of Aratum Codex (described above).
Layover Locations
Secret Dragon Landing Zone #1
The first Layoversecret dragon landing zonecan be found as soon as you reach the open-air portion of the level. Instead of going for the Hell Carriers, turn left and kill the titan on top of the tower to unlock a new landing area.
Secret Dragon Landing Zone #2
The second Layover landing spot is located underneath the first Hell Carrier at the bottom of a deep pit. There are two titans guarding this one.
Cat and Mouse Locations
Hell Fighter #1
The first Hell Fighter is located in the tutorial tunnel, so it can’t be missed.
Hell Fighter #2
The second Hell Fighter appears after blowing up the fleshy mass on the wall blocking the way to the third Hell Carrier.
Hell Fighter #3
The last Hell Fighter appears after destroying another fleshy mass attached to a building, this time on the way to the fourth and final Hell Carrier. Those are all the challenges forDOOM: The Dark AgesChapter 5! There are evenmore collectibles to find in Chapter 6, so the journey isn’t over.
