Summary
A senior Battlestate Games official said thatEscape from Tarkovis slated to release on home consoles, but not before it comes to the Game Boy. That is to say:Escape from Tarkovwon’t be coming to consoles.
July 27 will mark the eighth anniversary ofEscape from Tarkovlaunching in beta. Following years of content additions and overall improvements, the game is nowadays nearing its full-fledged release, which is currently planned for late 2025.
WithEscape from Tarkovversion 1.0 being on the horizon, some fans have been speculating that Battlestate Games might soon have the resources to pursue a console port of its hitextraction shooter. However, no such project is planned, according to Battlestate’s chief operating officer, Nikita Buyanov. Speaking during the latest episode of the Tarkov TV broadcast series, Buyanov fielded a fan question about a potential console version ofEscape from Tarkov, replying that it’ll happen “someday, but before, we will release on [the] Game Boy.”
Battlestate Wasn’t Always Dismissive of an Escape from Tarkov Console Port
The executive’s remark was ostensibly just a tongue-in-cheek way of indicating a console port of the popular extraction shooter isn’t in the works. The comment marks a notable departure from Battlestate’s earlier messaging, as the company wasn’t always so dismissive about the idea of porting its flagship title to consoles. For example, in a 2020 interview, former Battlestate developer Pavel Dyatlovsaid that a console version ofEscape from Tarkovwas a possibility, but not before the game launches on Steam. Five years later, the extraction shooter still hasn’t made its way to Valve’s storefront, which Buyanov previously suggested won’t happen until the 1.0 version is out.
While a console port of the hit game no longer seems to be on the table, its 1.0 release is finally drawing near. That’s according to a recently sharedEscape from Tarkovroadmap covering the remainder of 2025. The content agenda states that the game will leave beta before the end of the year, but after the 0.16.9.0 patch, which is planned to roll out sometime in August 2025. That stated timeline suggests that the 1.0 release will possibly materialize in the fourth quarter of the year.
In the meantime,Escape from Tarkov’s next patch is scheduled for May 2025. Identified by version number 0.16.6.0, the upcoming update promises AI behavior adjustments, balancing changes, and optimizations for the Lighthouse map. Shoreline map audio improvements will also be part of the package, together with a new in-game event.
