Ubisoft has released a surprise new update forFar Cry 4on the PlayStation 5, finally adding 60 FPS support on the console. Despite initially launchingin 2014 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC,Far Cry 4has become the latest Ubisoft title to receive a surprise update that enhances the game on current-generationconsoles.

While it isn’t surprising that Ubisoft is continuing the series with new entries, its support for older titles has left fans somewhat shocked. Before today’s unexpectedFar Cry 4update, Ubisoft deployed a60 FPS patch forFar Cry New Dawn, the spin-off and sequel toFar Cry 5. Fans have been begging Ubisoft to add support for 60 FPS on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 to many of its older titles, withFar Cry 4now becoming the latest Ubisoft game to receive the same treatment.

Far Cry 4 Receives 60 FPS Patch on PS5

While rumors continue to circulate about apotentialFar Cry 7, Ubisoft is still seemingly committed to previous entries in the series, as a new update forFar Cry 4is now available on PlayStation 5.Patch 1.08 is now available for download (perPlayStation Game Size) and introduces 60 FPS support for fans playing on the current-generation console. While the update isn’t available on Xbox Series X/S,Far Cry 4has had support for 60 FPS on the latest Xbox consoles ever since 2021, thanks to Microsoft’s FPS boost feature. PlayStation 5 users were previously locked to 30 FPS, but can now check out the big upgrade by downloading the newest patch.

The update comes just a few weeks after Ubisoftunintentionally censored nudity inFar Cry 4following the launch of a new update. On April 3,Far Cry 4fans were left confused when the eleven-year-old title received a mysterious update that seemingly removed any nudity from the game. Shortly after the update was released, a Ubisoft representative took to Reddit to confirm that the update was a “mistake.” According to Ubisoft, content that was specifically developed for the Japanese version ofFar Cry 4was accidentally uploaded to the worldwide version of the game on Steam. The mistake has since been reversed and Ubisoft has confirmed there are no plans to censorFar Cry 4at this time.

Ubisoft’s sudden 60 FPS updates for some of its older titles come as the studio has also been addingSteam achievements to titles such asWatch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Far Cry 5, and more. The same feature is also being made readily available for Ubisoft’s newer titles, such asAssassin’s Creed Shadows, which launched on Steam with achievements on day one.
