Summary
Star Warsfans can get a new look at General Grievous’s unmasked face thanks to aFortniteleak. Epic’s latestFortniteseason has brought fans plenty ofStar Warscontent, including skins of characters like Mace Windu and the infamous “Darth Jar-Jar.” There is now even an AI Darth Vader NPC that can talk to players in the iconic voice of James Earl Jones, as long as they avoid certain controversial topics.
Vader isn’t the onlyStar Warsvillain making his presence felt on the Island, asFortniterecently launched its General Grievous skins after a brief delay. As manyStar Warsfans know,Grievous was a field commander for the Separatist Armyduring the Clone Wars, trained in the Jedi arts by Count Dooku and enhanced with cybernetic limbs and implants. Before getting these upgrades, Grievous was a Kaleesh warlord named Qymaen jai Sheelal, with his true face even being shown in an issue of 2019’sStar Wars Age of Republic - General Grievous.
General Grievous has an alternateFortniteskinof himself from before his transformation into the cyborg Jedi killer ofStar Warslore, and it seems that Epic went to great pains to model the face beneath his skull-like war mask. This was discovered byWizarConceptson Twitter, who shared a leaked image of Grievous with his face exposed. This face matches the one shown in theAge of Republiccomic, sporting dark red skin, yellow reptilian eyes, and bony tusks on the sides of Grievous’s mouth. Unfortunately, Epic isn’t offering an official unmasked General Grievous skin at this time.
General Grievous Fortnite Skin Has Unmasked Face
Still,Fortniteplayers who have seen this leak are impressed at the level of detail Epic has shown in its crossover content, especially since this is the first time that Grievous has been unmasked inaStar Warsvideo game. Past looks at Grievous’s original Kaleesh appearance in otherStar Warsmedia have either been as a statue in a darkened room or in an illustrated comic book art style, so thisFortnitemodel is probably the closest fans could get to seeing his organic face as it would look like in a live-actionStar Warsproject.
Given that the General Grievous skin has a mask on at all times, Epic could have been excused for not bothering to model a Kaleesh face underneath it, making the fact thatFortnitedevelopers did all the more noteworthy. It also doublesas an interesting Easter egg forStar Warsfanswho have wondered for 20 years what Grievous looked like before his transformation into a cyborg general and lightsaber collector out to slaughter Jedi and Clone Troopers alike.
