First announced in late 2024,Game of Thrones: Kingsroadrolled out in closed early access in January 2025, giving fans of the franchise an initial peek at the project. The action-adventure title eventually conducted a bigger beta program for buyers of the game’s Founder’s Pack, which kicked off after a single-day delay on March 27. After a few months of gathering feedback from its different beta tests, theGame of Thrones: Kingsroaddevs are now looking to conclude the latest early access period, with the game nearing its official release on various platforms.
In a new announcement,Netmarble unveiledGame of Thrones: Kingsroad’s May 21 release date, which would see the game’s PC, Android, and iOS versions go live in select regions. It’s important to note that certain countries in Asia are expected to receive the open-world game “at a later date,” owing to some localization-related optimizations still to be made. For future updates, the Netmarble team underlined that main episodes and new parts of the map, alongside extra content such as the Altar of Memories dungeons, will be added to the game. Alongside the newest notice, theGame of Thrones: Kingsroaddevsalso shared a brand-new trailer narrated by Jon Snow, which showcased the forthcoming title’s various aspects, from its combat to the cast of characters.
Not only does the newGame of Thronestitlesupport cross-progression between different platforms, but the progress made during the early access period can also be used in the official build, allowing players to continue right where they left off during the beta. Moreover, there are a couple of rewards that will be exclusively handed out to early access participants on the game’s release day, which include an exclusive outfit as well as a unique House Sigil. Those who purchase the Founder’s Pack at any point beforeGame of Thrones: Kingsroad’s launch are also eligible for these rewards.
Throughout its beta period,Game of Thrones: Kingsroad’s Steam ratinghas languished at “Mixed” based on feedback from a little over a thousand users. Many of the critical user reviews for the game have called out the devs for implementing excessive microtransactions. Keeping that in mind, it seems like Netmarble might have to slow down with its in-app economy in order to be in the fans' good books post-release.
