Gamescom LATAM CEO Details Its Focus on Inclusivity and Earth-Friendly Practices
Gamescom LATAM Has Been Deemed ‘The Most Accessible Gaming Event in the World’
In addition to going over general improvements to the show, like the venue being recently rebuilt with a more modernized design and reworking the display layouts for better navigation and interaction, Steinberg praised the close relationship Gamescom LATAM shares withAbleGamers. AbleGamers is an organization dedicated to providing all kinds of specialized hardware and similar support for players with disabilities, raising funds and awareness for the cause within the industry. He noted that:
We have a very long-lasting partnership with AbleGamers,. They tell me, and I believe that this is the case, that we are the most accessible gaming event in the world.
Steinberg explained how Gamescom LATAM goes to great lengths to accommodate the needs of all those in attendance. He mentioned that while “it’s difficult to cover everything, we have things like sign language and audio descriptions for many of our talks and parts of the show. We have a tactile map. In terms of mobility, everything is accessible everywhere. We make sure thataccessibility is in placefor all the participants.”
Gamescom LATAM Working With an Environmentally-Focused NGO to Save São Paulo’s Atlantic Forest
The Koelnmesse trade fair center hosts the mainGamescom convention in Cologne, Germanyeach year. Koelnmesse has a dedicated practice of reducing the carbon footprint the event leaves as much as possible. Discussing how Gamescom LATAM endeavors to do the same, Steinberg stated that “We’ve always recycled from the start because events like this generate a huge amount of litter.” For 2025, Gamescom LATAM also chose to partner with an NGO whose mission is to preserve and restore Brazil’s Atlantic Forest.
Regarding this, Steinberg said:
It’s not as well-known as theAmazon rainforestbecause it has been 90% destroyed. It’s by the coast now, but the whole of São Paul used to be covered by it. When the Portuguese arrived here, what they saw was the Atlantic Forest. you’re able to still find some parts with native trees. I thought it would make more sense to try to save something that is close to where we actually stage the event, so we decided to partner with them.
Those who purchased tickets for Gamescom LATAM 2025 and opted to donate to the Atlantic Forest conservation had the cost reduced to almost half the price.
Gamescom LATAM thus remains committed to providing a comfortable and safe experience for all its audience members by ensuring a wide range of ways for them to get the most out of the event. And with its efforts to revitalize a natural part of the local area, it’s not only one of thebiggest video game conventions, but one that is socially conscious and sets a positive example.
