The latest title from Sucker Punch Productions was officially announced during the late September 2024 State of Play presentation. On that occasion, Sony said thatGhost of Yoteiwas targeting a 2025 release.
Seven months later,Ghost of Yoteireceived a concrete release date: October 2. Sony shared it alongside a new trailer, titled The Onryō’s List. Like the name suggests, the three-minute video offers some glimpses ofGhost of Yotei’s story, which will be centered on revenge, similar to the first game. The events of the upcoming PS5 exclusive kick off with the protagonist, Atsu, losing her family to a gang of outlaws called the Yotei Six. She manages to survive being stabbed and pinned to a burning ginkgo tree next to her destroyed home, then spends the next 16 years learning how to fight, hunt, and kill.

Afterward, Atsu returns to Yotei with a list of six names she intends to exact revenge on: The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito. Uncovering the identities of the five masked outlaws and hunting down the entire gang will constitute a significant portion of the main questline.Atsu’s main weapon throughoutGhost of Yoteiwill be the katana that the Yotei Six used to pin her to the ginkgo tree, suggesting that the protagonist is quite big on symbolism.
Ghost of Yotei Pre-Order Bonuses and Editions
Sony’s release date announcement also included new details aboutGhost of Yotei’seditions. The base game will be priced at $69.99 / £69.99 / €79.99, with Deluxe and Collector’s Editions also planned. The former will retail for $79.99 / £79.99 / €89.99, while the latter’s pricing details are still unconfirmed.Ghost of Yotei’s U.S. pre-orders open on May 2, at 10am ET. In other regions, they will go live at 10am local time.
Ghost of Yotei’s pre-order bonuses are fairly modest, consisting of seven avatars and an in-game mask. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes a unique Snake armor set, one charm, an exclusive armor dye, a sword kit, a bonus horse with saddle, and an early-game unlock in the form of Traveler’s Maps. The Collector’s Edition includes all of that content, along with several physical items: a sash, a tsuba (sword guard), art cards, the Zeni Hajiki coin game, a ghost mask, and a foldable paper ginkgo tree. The ARPG’s new trailer ends with a brief glimpse of gameplay, which confirms thatGhost of Yoteiwill retain the guiding wing mechanicfromGhost of Tsushima.
