Former PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida recently offered some kind words regarding the upcoming Sucker Punch titleGhost of Yotei, claiming that the game will be “even better” than 2020’sGhost of Tsushima. First revealed during the September 2024 State of Play presentation,Ghost of Yoteiwill follow Atsu, a female warrior seeking revenge against the Yotei Six, a group of outlaws who murdered her family. While the title will see many similarities toGhost of Tsushima,Ghost of Yoteiwill focus more on player choice, giving fans more control over the game’s narrative and adding some much-requested variety to the title’s story and world. The developers previously confirmed thatGhost of Yoteiwill feature a non-linear campaign, and players will be able to seek out any of the Yotei Six at any time while exploring the largest open world that Sucker Punch has ever created.
In a recent chat with the French publicationPlayStation Inside, former Sony Interactive Entertainment boss Shuhei Yoshida complimented the upcoming game in a big way. According to the ex-PlayStation exec,Tsushimawas fantastic, but “having playedGhost of Yoteiat several stages of its development, I can assure you that it will be even better and that Sucker Punch has done it again.” This isn’t the first timeGhost of Yoteihas been praised by Yoshida, with the gaming industry veteran highlighting the title’s intuitive and bug-free gameplay in April. The producer ofYoteihas reportedly asked for Yoshida’s feedback several times during development, and the former Sony boss has only had shining compliments to share thus far.

Demand for the game is already high, withGhost of Yoteicurrently at thetop of the PlayStation Store pre-order chartsin numerous regions, including the US and UK. Despite recent concerns regarding game pricing, the $80 Digital Deluxe Edition of the game is beating out the vanilla $70 version, with pre-orders having kicked off just in early May. A $250 Collector’s Edition is also available, including several physical bonuses, such as a papercraft gingko tree, art cards, and a ghost mask.
In the middle of 2024, rumors began swirling about thecast of the live-actionGhost of Tsushimafilm, which is being directed by Chad Stahelski ofJohn Wickfame. Many believe that Hiroyuki Sanada, most recently known for his role as Yoshii Toranaga in the FX dramaShogun, has been cast in the movie, though no concrete evidence of this has surfaced just yet. Additionally, an anime adaptation of the 2020 game, titledGhost of Tsushima: Legends, will debut on Crunchyroll in 2027.
