Oblivion Remasteredhas been a joy to experience, and those who fondly remember the originalOblivion, or even those who are jumping in for the first time, might want to be made aware of a few glitches and bugs that might add a challenge to the experience. While most of the bugs and glitches are harmless, some can break quests, which isn’t surprising considering the game is so big.
Listed below are some of the biggest glitches inOblivion Remasteredthat players will want to be aware of before they start certain quests so that they can find the fix that they need to get through it, while also providing some of the more fun ones that are harmless and worth knowing for hilarious trivia.
7Savlian Matius Waits at Castle Kvatch
The Battle for Castle Kvatch Awaits Savlian’s Movement
During Find the Heir, players must head to Kvatch and stop the Oblivion Gate and the Daedra forces from invading the destroyed hold. However, as players progress further into the quest chain, they will find themselves at Castle Kvatch, where Savlian Matius will simply stand still and refuse to progress through the courtyard, despite demands that players find the count and his ring.
Luckily, players can just ignore Savlian Matius and follow through with the quest without him, where they will need to head inside the castle to find the dead count andtake his ringback to Savlian. Obtaining the ring and giving it to Savlian will allow his duties to resume as normal.
6Unable to Sit Down in Chairs
Completing Umaril the Unfeathered Might Prevent Players From Sitting
If players have tried to enter the Shivering Isles through the Strange Door in Niben Bay, or simply want to sit down to enjoy some relaxation, then they might find themselves unable to. This is a glitch that has a chance of occurring when players complete the Knights of the Nine quest, Umaril the Unfeathered, and the consequence involves players no longer being able to take a seat.
Truthfully, the only real fix for this glitch is to make a save before starting Umaril the Unfeathered, and then simply sit in a nearby chair to see if the glitch has affected you or not. If the answer is yes, then try the quest again or simply ignore it until you have completed the other side quests that might require players to sit, which involves accessing the Shivering Isles for the first timeand stealingthe Elder Scroll in The Ultimate Heist.
5Ahdarji’s Disappearing Heirloom
The Countess Has a Ring That Might Never Appear in the Thieves Guild Quests
One of the most common bugs that players might encounter inOblivion Remasteredis that of Ahdarji’s missing Heirloom, which becomes a great deal of stress for playersduring the Thieves Guild quest, Ahdarji’s Heirloom. There are multiple factors within this quest that will make it so that Ahdarji’s ring never spawns, thus making it impossible to complete the quest. Luckily, there are a few ways to ensure this doesn’t happen.
Players should be sure to complete this quest before Sanguine’s Shrine Quest, but failing that, players can still make sure that the ring will be present by ensuring that they do not enter the castle on the 15th, 16th, and 17th of every month while the quest is active. This is a quest that requires quite a bit of saving and loading old saves just to try and counter the disappearing ring, but if all else fails, use this console command to get the ring: player.additem 00035E95 1
4Lost Quest Items Due to Being Sent to Jail
Quest Items Can Disappear If Players Escape Jail
Many quests will have quest-specific items that players must pick up, especially Thieves Guild quests. However, due to the stolen nature of some of these items, players might get caught by the guards and sent to jail with their stolen goods now forfeited. However, if players escape jail, then they will find the evidence chest empty of the stolen goods that theyneed for their quest.
Luckily, these quest items are not gone forever, as all players need to do in order to bring them back is to serve their time in jail. Upon serving your sentence, the quest items will return to the player’s inventory, allowing them to complete the quest.
3Salmo the Baker’s Game Crashing Love of Bread
Oblivion’s Classic Glitch Occurs if Salmo Acquires Bread
Salmo is a baker who can be found in Skingrad, and he will often visit the Two Sisters Lodge and West Weald Inn. Salmo has nothing to do inOblivion Remastered, and will often just wander around, being known as the baker who never actually bakes anything. However, there’s a good reason for that, because if Salmo manages to get his hands on bread, the entire game will crashlike a bad spellin action.
If players manage to get him to pick up bread, or they simply pickpocket him and place bread into his inventory, then the moment he travels to an inn and sits down to eat the bread, the game will crash. The best way to avoid this is to just stay away from Salmo, as it’s impossible for him to acquire bread without player intervention.
2Horses Report Crimes
Steal a Horse and the Horse Will Report It
Have you ever committed a crime, like stealing a horse or killing someone in view of your horse? Well, if you have, then you might want to be aware thatthe horse remembers. The horse sees all, and when players are not looking, the horse will report the crime to the guards to give players a bounty. It’s an absolutely hilarious bug with a simple fix: don’t commit a crime in front of horses.
The fact that horses can report crimes, especially their own theft, is hilarious to think about, but this is one of those bugs that is harmless and just good fun, but players should be aware of it so that they can stop questioning why they always have a bounty when they are up to no good with a horse nearby.
1Rimalus Bruiant’s Abusive Tendencies
An Imperial Noble Who Becomes Hostile Against His Wife and Dogs
Rimalus Bruiant can be found within the Bruiant house in Chorrol, where players will never see him outside. The moment players finally dare toventure inside his house, he will come downstairs not to question the trespassing, but to randomly beat up his wife and the dogs that they have, simply because of an unresolved bug where Rimalus’ faction is not aligned with his wife, providing him with unusually high aggression.
This bug is harmless, and Rimalus doesn’t have any quests to be aware of, so feel free to visit Rimalus and watch him fist fight his dogs before Imperial Guards storm inside and kill him. It’s a silly bug that’s never been patched from the original game, but won’t impact gameplay at all.
