Summary
After over a year of the Galactic War, Super Earth is now fighting its biggest threat to date inHelldivers 2. Not only are players urged to unite against this priority threat inHelldivers 2, but SEAF trooper NPCs are also joining the fight throughout missions on Super Earth Mega-Cities.
These new SEAF trooper NPCs aren’t always the most reliable, but every bit of help againstthe Illuminate invasion of Super Earthmatters, regardless. Despite their unpredictability, most of the players who are answering the call to defend Super Earth have already developed an undying appreciation for these companions. So, given their existing popularity, these new SEAF troopers arguably deserve to become a permanent Stratagem that players can call upon, long after the current invasion of Super Earth is over.
Helldivers 2’s SEAF Troopers Deserve the Upgrade to Permanent Stratagem Status
IfHelldivers 2’s melee weaponsprove anything, it’s that players are committed to roleplaying and using a wide variety of weapons, regardless of the current meta. This seems to be the case for the new SEAF troopers available in the Super Earth Mega-City invasion missions, as these NPCs may not be as powerful as fellow Helldivers, but many players have already developed a deep appreciation for fighting alongside these troopers and protecting them at all costs.
Players cangive orders to nearby SEAF troopersby using the quick-chat voice commands.
Given players’ appreciation for the new SEAF troopers, it’s a shame that these NPCs presumably won’t be available after the invasion of Super Earth is over. Fortunately, though, this gives future updates forHelldivers 2the perfect opportunity to turn SEAF troopers into a permanent Stratagem that players can call upon in any mission going forward. While having new Stratagems is typically always a cause for celebration, a SEAF trooper Stratagem could have a few unique benefits over other core Stratagem types.
Protecting SEAF Troopers Could Introduce a New Layer of Difficulty for Hardcore Helldivers 2 Players
One such unique quality a SEAF trooper Stratagem could have is toadd an extra layer of difficulty toHelldivers 2. Not only would players be potentially putting themselves at a disadvantage by sacrificing a Stratagem slot to bring SEAF troopers, as opposed to a more reliable, anti-armor Stratagem, but there are consequences for killing SEAF troopers that players should avoid. More specifically, players will want to exercise trigger discipline and refrain from using excessive Stratagems and explosive weapons, since friendly fire against SEAF troopers will deduct players’ Requisition Slips, and repeatedly killing SEAF troopers and civilians will mark the player as a traitor to be targeted by an orbital barrage.
Helldivers 2’s SEAF Troopers Could Make Solo Play More Accessible
With SEAF troopers, these NPCs wouldn’t expend any reinforcements when summoned, and they would also help to draw enemy fire away from the player, which would be extremely helpful for when players need to interact with the terminal at an objective site. Considering that the limited amount of reinforcements is one of the biggest disadvantages ofplayingHelldivers 2solo, these two qualities of SEAF troopers could ultimately make solo play much more viable across all difficulties.
Helldivers 2’s SEAF Troopers are a Rich Vein for Future Warbonds to Tap
Not only could a new SEAF trooper Stratagem be a hot new item, but a full SEAF-themed Warbond inHelldivers 2could also be a recipe for success, given the community’s appreciation for SEAF troopers. This could notably include cosmetic patterns in the iconic blue and white SEAF colors, as well as a new Booster or body armor passive perk that provides buffs for nearby SEAF and Helldiver allies, allowing players to create a full SEAF loadout, with peak roleplaying potential.
