Summary
One ofHelldivers 2’s planets, Tien Kwan, has mysteriously vanished from the game. Not only does this make it impossible forHelldivers 2players to carry out missions on Tien Kwan, but it also rendered a Major Order unwinnable.
Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios,Helldivers 2is a highly popular live-service co-op shooter that has players diving onto numerous planets as part of an elite military squadron to extract resources, carry out missions, and kill enemies in the name of liberty.Major Orders are integral toHelldivers 2’s live-service angle, where players are given a set of rotating time-limited community objectives. The completion or failure of these Major Orders influencesHelldivers 2’s in-game narrative, so they hold quite a significance in the meta.
A recent Major Order taskedHelldivers 2players with fending off Illuminate forces on Tien Kwan, but this operation ran into some major problems. When players attempted to deploy on Tien Kwan,Helldivers 2hard-crashedevery single time. Expectedly, there was some initial frustration, but it quickly turned into bewilderment once dataminers discovered thatTien Kwan’s biome and map files were completely missing fromHelldivers 2’s directory. With no assets to load, it was impossible for the game to initialize a drop onto Tien Kwan, rendering it impossible forHelldivers 2players to complete the Major Order.
The Illuminate Threat Has Been Curtailed For Now
However, Arrowhead has been quick to respond to the complaints. While the reason behind Tien Kwan’s disappearance fromHelldivers 2’s files hasn’t been explained, the Major Order appears to have turned out a success. Over on Arrowhead’s official Twitter account, the studio revealed thatHelldivers 2players have succeeded in curbing the Meridian Singularity, thereby vanquishing the Illuminate enemy faction from the Galactic War, at least for now. The Terminids and Automatons will ostensibly put up “increased resistance” againstHelldivers 2players for the time being.
At the moment, Tien Kwan remains fully under Super Earth’s control, and therefore unavailable for any missions inHelldivers 2. Interestingly, this wasn’t a one-off technical hiccup, as Tien Kwan had previously been an important location inHelldivers 2’s lore - the site where Exosuit stratagems were first introduced and one of the earliest planets to experience Meteor Storms. Tien Kwan’s sudden disappearance, right in the middle of a key narrative event, has given rise to speculation that the missing files are part of a major update tied to the anticipated Illuminate invasion, possibly arriving with thenextHelldivers 2Warbond, which is set to debut on May 8.
