Summary
As fans prepare themselves for the highly anticipatedHouse of the Dragon’s return in Season 3, one star from the HBO show has hinted at his arrival with a behind-the-scenes image, which teases his armor and their significant role in the upcoming season. The return to Westeros couldn’t be greater now, as its last two seasons have been preparing for the run-up to the fantasy show’s most gruesome battle to date, especially with how things were left at the end ofHouse of the DragonSeason 2’s cliffhanger that saw Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) compromise a deal with Alicent (Olivia Cooke) to end the war, in the hopes that conflict wouldn’t break out with Aemond.
However, things don’t seem to be heading that way as fans will know thatThe Battle of the Gullet is fast approaching, which has already been confirmed by showrunner Ryan Condal, as well as some leaked set photos that showcase Season 3 will commence with its bloodiest and most important naval war yet. Season one ofHouse of the Dragonhas already seen its fair share of heartache due to ongoing power struggles as Rhaenyra’s son, Prince Lucerys, was tragically killed by Aemond in a dragon fight, and in Season 2, Lord Corlys' wife,Rhaenys Targaryen and her dragon, Meleys, were sadly brought to their end days by Aemond and Vhagar, in what was one of the show’s saddest and most courageous scenes so far as the pair plummeted to the ground below. Now, as Season 3 approaches, fans can expect many more deaths in what looks to be its most crucial event yet, next toDance of the Dragons.
Abubakar Salim Shows off Alyn of Hull’s Armor From House Velaryon
In a post on Twitter/X, actor Abubakar Salim, who playsAlyn of Hull, one of the bastard sons of Lord Corlys Velaryon, has teased his upcoming participation inHouse of the DragonSeason 3’s The Battle of the Gullet. Although the actor doesn’t go into too many specifications about what will happen (naturally), merely stating “Yup”, with a fist, wave and anchor emoji,Salim reveals an image of his armor, which shows off the Velaryon sigil, a silver seahorse displayed on the front of his breastplate.
Even though Alyn doesn’t have a dragon, at least not yet, with his brother,Addam Velaryon, successfully claiming the dragon Seasmoke, Salim’s post seems to indicate that Alyn will play a big role in the upcoming battle and may even look to take ownership of House Velaryon for himself, leaving Addam on the outside. Of course, that all depends on who will survive The Battle of the Gullet and whether all the written works of George R.R. Martin will actually make it on-screen.
So far,House of the Dragonseason 3 is getting pretty full of new cast members.Andoractor Joplin Sibtain has been cast to play Ser “Bold”, with others including Barry Sloane as Ser Adrian Redfort and Tom Cullen as Ser Luthor Largent, James Norton as Ormund Hightower, Tommy Flanagan as Roddy the Ruin, Peter Polycarpou as Lord Gaunt, and Dan Fogler as Ser Torrhen Manderly.
A release date for the third season ofHouse of the Dragonhasn’t yet been announced, but it’s likely fans won’t see new episodes until the summer of 2026.
