For the first time ever inGTAhistory,Grand Theft Auto 6is going to feature a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style duo of protagonists, one male and the other female. These two main characters, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, are a pair of criminals who live in the fictional U.S. state of Leonida and fall in love with each other while committing robberies together. Jason is a former U.S. Army veteran turned criminal enforcer, while Lucia is an ex-convict who gets released from prison after a fortunate turn of events. Together, the two discover a statewide conspiracy and must protect each other from the hostile forces that are surrounding them inGTA 6’s world.

It’s not exactly clear what kind of pathGrand Theft Auto 6’s plot will take, but Rockstar has provided tons of information about the game on both its website and newly-released trailer. Recently, Rockstar hasupdated the web page forGTA 6to not only include some brief biographies of the main characters in the game, but also to feature some images and descriptions of the major, Florida-inspired regions in Leonida. Unsurprisingly, some fans have used these details to come up with some wild theories aboutGTA 6’s protagonists, one of which may be more believable than some may think.

Some Scenes in GTA 6’s Latest Trailer Suggest that Jason May Secretly Be a Cop

A user on Twitter by the name of GamerDetective hasrecently posted some side-by-side imagesofGrand Theft Auto 6, which, in their opinion, suggest that Jason Duval is secretly an undercover cop. To be clear, GamerDetective is far from the only person to make a claim like this about Jason. Theories about the ex-army member being a cop have been circulating around the internet ever sinceGTA 6’s initial reveal in 2023. That being said, the game’s second trailer, coupled with some of its screenshots on the official Rockstar website, make this idea sound somewhat plausible.

Jason’s Attire in a GTA 6 Screenshot Resembles a Cop in the Game’s Second Trailer

In one of the recently-released screenshots forGTA 6, Jason can be seen sitting next to drug runner Brian Heder in a car, while wearing a backwards baseball cap and a black vest. Interestingly, Jason’s outfit in this image suspiciously resembles the attire of a police officer that appears duringthe secondGTA 6trailer. During a brief scene in which the police raid an apartment, an individual is seen wearing a similar-looking baseball cap and a black police vest. Unfortunately, the face of this person isn’t revealed in the trailer, so it’s hard to tell for sure if this is Jason or not.

As GamerDetective pointed out, there’s a scene in the secondGTA 6trailer in which a gangster approaches Jason and suspects him of being a federal agent. This may not necessarily mean anything, but it does give more weight to their theory.

There’s a Cutscene in GTA 6 That Suspiciously Doesn’t Have Any Visible Protagonists

Perhaps the strongest piece of evidence in favor of the “Jason is a cop” theory, though, can be found inGTA 6’s latest trailer, in which a police officer can be seen talking to two individuals with their backs to the camera. To the untrained eye, this brief scene in the trailer may not seem that out of place. However, as most diehardGrand Theft Autofans would know, the absence of any visibleprotagonists in this cutsceneis a bit unusual. Almost all the cutscenes in everyGTAgame feature their protagonists in some regard. Therefore, the fact that Jason and Lucia aren’t present in this scene either suggests that Rockstar is changing its formula, or that Jason is one of the individuals that the police officer is talking to.

Trust is Likely One of GTA 6’s Biggest Themes

Regardless of whether Jason is actually a cop or not, trust (or the lack thereof) seems to bea central theme ofGrand Theft Auto 6. The brief conversation between Jason and Lucia in the game’s first trailer is a prime example of this idea, as GamerDetective noted in their tweet. Even though the two protagonists are depicted as lovebirds inGTA6’s second trailer, it’s possible that they could be hiding some vital information from each other, cop-related or otherwise.
