CHEF barrels into the fray inRisk of Rain 2with an array of lethal cooking implements and the ability to spawn healing globs for him and his teammates. Almost his entire kit got reworked in the final patch forSeekers of the Storm, and other than that, he got a couple of new skills as well.
Onceplayers unlock CHEF inRoR 2, they’ll be able to immediately start working towards unlocking his entire kit. In this guide, we’ll be covering the steps and some extra tips on how to get each of CHEF’s abilities as quickly as possible without using any cheats or mods.
RoR 2: How to Complete It’s Getting Hot in Here for CHEF (Ice Box)
TheIt’s Getting Hot in Here challengerequires players to apply 20 stacks of Burn to Mithrix, the final boss of the base game. While this seems simple enough, the challenge comes from the fact that Burn applied by CHEF’s Sear skill wears off almost immediately.
To complete this challenge, you’ll need two items:
Sear’s tick rate is tied directly to CHEF’s attack speed. By getting multiple Soldier’s Syringes (around 10 or so), you’ll be able to inflict more stacks of Burn on Mithrix before Sear stops channeling. If you fail to reach 20 stacks of Burn in a single Sear cast, you can use Sear again thanks to Backup Magazine.
You can achieve the same result by usingPredatory Instincts, which increases your attack speed whenever you score a critical strike. Get a couple of these along with some Lens-maker’s Glasses and watch your attack speed go through the roof.
Completing this challenge unlocks Ice Box, which makes CHEF launch ice cubes that can freeze enemies. Frozen enemies are instantly killed when their health goes below a certain point — this effect is alsopresent in the Artificer’s kit.
You’ve Always Been Crazy Challenge (Oil Spill)
This challenge requires players to hit five airborne enemies with one instance of the Roll skill. The absolute easiest way to do this is to gather up a bunch of enemies and use thePrimordial CubeEquipment item, which launches a black hole that groups enemies together. Simply fire the cube and use Roll to smack enemies as they’re floating.
Oil Spill is CHEF’s second mobility skill. Not only does it provide vertical movement, but it also leaves globs of oil whenever CHEF uses the skill. These globs of oil can be frozen or ignited to create patches of ground that can freeze or burn enemies.
Barbecued Bison Recipe Complete Challenge (Yes, CHEF!)
The tooltip for this challenge says players must complete 10 Bison recipes. In reality, this just means that you need tokill 10 Bison enemies by first covering them with Glaze before cooking them with Sear.
The easiest way to do this is to start a run and see if you start in theShattered Abodesmap. Plenty of Bison tend to spawn in this map, making it the perfect place to complete this challenge quickly. If you’d rather not re-roll your starting zone, the next best place to reach isRally Point Delta.
Yes, CHEF! is an alternate special ability that acts as a buff for your other abilities. When used, CHEF’s next ability will have an empowered effect.
As always, when trying to unlock survivor skills, use the Artifact of Commandto make item collection easier.
